Defiant Fauci Lawyer Removed from Senate Hearing by Chairman Rand Paul

One of Dr. Anthony Fauci’s host of lawyers had to be removed from a Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee hearing Wednesday after he obdurately refused to obey committee rules and ignored repeated warnings.

In what appeared to be a planned theatrical stunt during the committee’s questioning of the Biden Administration’s face of the COVID-19 controversy, Fauci’s impudent lawyer:

  • Sat next to Dr. Fauci, rather than a row back, where he was assigned and told to sit.
  • Spoke when he wasn’t recognized by the committee.
  • Refused to move back to his assigned row, despite repeated warnings by Chairman Paul.
  • Continued to speak, despite being repeatedly told by Chairman Paul that he was not recognized and that the hearing was called in order to question only Dr. Fauci.
  • Continued to break the rules, despite being repeatedly warned that security would remove him if he did not comply with the committee’s rules.

"You are not invited here for testimony, you are being disruptive. You are NOT recognized. Security, please remove him from the room," Chairman Paul finally said.

Dr. Fauci, who was called to testify about his leadership of, and comments about, the COVID-19 epidemic, refused to answer even the most innocuous questions by invoking his Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination.

A half-dozen of Dr. Fauci's lawyers remained in the room to advise him during the hearing.

"In no courtroom in America can you have your witness plead the Fifth Amendment and then your attorney gets to testify!" Chairman Paul explained later in the hearing when a Democrat senator complained about the lawyer's removal.
