Media Landscape Report Seeks to Expand Political Harassment of Americans

Despite overwhelming leftist representation in legacy media, a former executive from Soros’ Open Society Foundations seemed to show concern that Americans just do not hear from them enough.

A group of leftist activists — including Sarah Knight, a former Director of Open Society Foundations’ Democracy Program —  released a report in June, which called for a local media overhaul through financial investment. Truthfully, the left has already done this at great scale. Knight’s former boss, George Soros, funneled $1,532,105 to Project Syndicate, which places leftist commentary in publications throughout the world. Similarly, Soros gave $1,633,457 to a leftist publication called openDemocracy in the United Kingdom and $492,000 to the leftist fact-checking organization, International Fact-Checking Network. Soros also gave $131,111,250 to media organizations in America and throughout the world between 2016 and 2020 alone.

Beyond Soros, other leftists call the shots at the majority of establishment media giants. Firms that relentlessly promote ESG investing such as BlackRock and Vanguard have massive stakes in the parent companies of ABC, NBC, and CBS. Leftist billionaire Jeff Bezos owns The Washington Post, which constantly advocates for leftist causes, while putting the hysterical “Democracy Dies in Darkness” banner above their articles. Bezos is not even the only leftist billionaire with his own media outlet, as Michael Bloomberg uses Bloomberg News for not only conventional propaganda, but also corporate pressure campaigns

Perhaps these progressives are concerned about the conservative influence of CNN, MSNBC, and The New York Times?

The report’s authors suggested that leftists should invest in local and for-profit media rather than exclusively in nonprofits and political advertising. They promoted their idea as a counter to growing conservative media outlets, while actually seeking to expand leftist hegemony over the media. Beyond this, the report appeared to be an attempt to politicize even more of American life.

For example, while the report’s authors discussed ways to get what they consider news to readers, they provided several examples:

“What else might this look like? It might involve philanthropies concerned about the wealth and power of billionaires investing in sports properties (through acquisition or sponsored content) to integrate accountability journalism into sports coverage. It might involve people concerned about wage theft and tipped minimum wage sponsoring content at an outlet like Eater, the restaurant review site.”

They want more leftist politics in sports, not simply at already corrupted channels like ESPN, but even in local coverage. They want to ambush Americans trying to choose a place to eat with propaganda. There is no part of American life that the left is unashamed to intrude upon.

The report continued, “It might involve a major advertiser for campaign and cause-focused ads on Michigan TV and radio instead buying a set of Michigan radio stations and integrating content,” they added, before going on to suggest the example of using weather coverage to, of course, promote climate change hysteria.

While Knight and the other authors failed to acknowledge the left’s grip on legacy media or Soros’ investment in media, they did manage to cite Jonathan Soros late in the report, both quoting from an article he had written and a Forbes article about his activities, to provide a potential business model.

Conservatives are under attack! If you don’t want to be harassed by leftists in your daily life, support local and national sources of news and sport coverage that don’t sell out to the left!
