These are posts slated for distribution via the Media Research Center’s NB Daily e-mail compilation of liberal media bias in national media coverage of politics and policy. The newsletter will be down for maintenance between July 25 through August 5, but you can read the same content on this page. If you're looking for posts from January 2015 or before, check the archive on MRC.org for the BiasAlert posts (previous name for NB Daily).
Remember the CNN motto "Facts First"? On Tuesday's The Lead with Jake Tapper, during a panel discussion of Bernie Sanders vs. Michael Bloomberg, no one corrected far-left guest Mehdi Hasan of al-Jazeera America when he bolstered Sanders by wrongly claiming Bloomberg was a Republican "for many, many years until 2018."
CNN En Español recently gave a master class in selective outrage, as displayed by their coverage of presidential pardons. One recent pardon was covered factually and neutrally. The other required an explainer and was bookended with an editorial crack at the issuing president. It’s not hard to guess which president drew bias and which did not.
Reporting live from Victoria Falls in central Africa for Wednesday’s Good Morning America, ABC’s chief meteorologist Ginger Zee used the spectacular location to lecture American viewers about climate change. It was all part of the network’s new Extraordinary Earth series leading up to the 50th anniversary of Earth Day in April.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was on The View Wednesday where she was at first lavished with praise from the hosts but then grilled about her support for Senator Bernie Sanders in the 2020 presidential race. Co-host Whoopi Goldberg first introduced Ocasio-Cortez as one of the “most talked about and controversial congresswomen,” before Sunny Hostin asked about her endorsing Sanders.
While appearing on MSNBC Live With Stephanie Ruhle Wednesday morning, major Democratic Party donor and Nevada businessman Stephen Cloobeck rejected the notion that socialist Senator Bernie Sanders could win the Democratic nomination, even labeling the far-left lawmaker an “anarchist” who “would love to burn down the United States.”
John Harwood's official job title may be CNN White House correspondent, but practically he has taken it upon himself to be a one of the frontline defenders of President Obama's economic legacy as he did once again when he joined Brooke Baldwin on Tuesday's CNN Newsroom.
While ABC and CBS were largely putting aside the many controversies of former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg to tout his rapid rise in the polls Tuesday, Leta Hong Fincher, the wife of a former award-winning Bloomberg News reporter was busy reminding the public of how Bloomberg censors his reporters who cover China and threatens those that don’t submit.
Seemingly finished with reporting Tuesday on the alleged racism and sexism controversies of former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, ABC’s World News Tonight and the CBS Evening News took to touting his rise in the polls and subsequent qualification for the Democratic debate in Nevada. It had CBS anchor Norah O’Donnell marveling at how Bloomberg's “surge” in the polls puts him in “second place” nationally and “puts him over the top” to get on the stage.
Through the Tuesday broadcast network morning and evening newscasts, not a single second has been spent on news first uncovered Monday by our friend Mollie Hemingway at The Federalist that Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) “and other Democratic senators had a secret meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif during the Munich Security Conference last week.”
On Sunday's 60 Minutes on CBS, the show devoted a segment to highlighting the views of Australian environmental alarmists and their attacks on "right-wing climate deniers" over the issue of whether global warming is to blame for the recent wildfires. Former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull -- who was ousted by his own conservative political party over his alarmist views -- was given a forum to trash his own party.
On Tuesday afternoon, MSNBC anchor Chris Jansing decided to check in with one of her favorite Democratic activist groups as she looked ahead to the 2020 general election. Having promoted the group Swing Left leading up to the 2018 midterms, Jansing touted how the organization was already working to “build a war chest and a volunteer infrastructure” to defeat President Trump in November.
In the skewed world of Charlotte Alter, the center is liberal 2020 candidate Pete Buttigieg and Barack Obama made voting an “act of love.” MSNBC on Tuesday brought on the Time magazine author to explain the state of millennials politics and how her generation will “transform America.” The book, The Ones We’ve Been Waiting For, pulls its title from a Barack Obama speech.
