The U.S. Constitution and Religious Liberty
The Wall Street Journal recently ran a fascinating op-ed by William A. Galston, "The Christian Heart of American Exceptionalism," much of which I agree with but some of which I don't.
Galston argues that the idea of American exceptionalism should not be discounted and that its primary source is the "durability of American religious belief" — mostly Christianity. Bravo.
Liberals Use of Black Americans, Part II
Last week's column focused on the ways liberals use blacks in pursuit of their leftist agenda, plus their demeaning attitudes toward black people. Most demeaning are their double standards. It was recently reported that Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., the House majority whip, spoke at a 2002 gathering hosted by white supremacist leaders when he was a Louisiana state representative. Some are calling on…
Dying for a Cigarette in New York City
If you're wondering why New York City police officers keep turning their back on Mayor Bill de Blasio, let's review parts of the mayor's recent speech on the Eric Garner case that have been removed from the "Official Website of the City of New York."
Correcting the Revisionists on the Reagan Record
My daughter asked me my opinion on an article she read in Vanity Fair attempting to debunk the presidential record of Ronald Reagan. I happily responded.
Alarming: A Calif. County Govt. Gives Church the Boot
My wife, Gena, and I discovered this past week that in her small mountain hometown in Plumas County, California, our pastor's church was kicked out of the county building it had been renting for Sunday church services. What's disgusting is that the eviction is engulfed in political moves to stop the church from meeting there.
Technology, Not Politics, Is Leading The Way in 2015
For decades, American presidents urged the American people to reduce our reliance on foreign oil imports by conserving energy. Nothing worked.
In defiance of the prevailing political wisdom, individual Americans insisted that the answer was not cutting back on the use of energy but finding new sources of energy. When politicians tried to force people into smaller and more fuel-efficient cars,…
Liberals Cynically Use Black Americans As Stalking Horses
Back in the day, when hunting was the major source of food, hunters often used stalking horses as a means of sneaking up on their quarry. They would walk on the opposite side of the horse until they were close enough to place a good shot on whatever they were hunting. A stalking horse not only concealed them but also, if their target was an armed man and they were discovered, would take the first…
One in Five 'Rolling Stone' Writers Are Morons
In response to the total implosion of Rolling Stone's preposterous story about a fraternity gang-rape at the University of Virginia, the media have reverted to their Soviet-style reporting. They're not even saying: We're choosing not to talk about UVA because it's a side show. It's more like: UVA? That's a school? Not only did the UVA gang rape turn out to be a hoax, but then President Obama's…
The Left's War on Jesus Christ Continues in America
America's Christophobes have been plenty busy lately. Maybe the Christmas season makes them especially nervous.
Democrats Excel at Deceptive Persuasion
Democrats are the masters of deceptive persuasion, meaning they will take our attention off something they have really screwed up and put it on something that's not quite so bad. And chief among those masters is he who resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington, D.C.
For example, let's look at the bumbling idiot Jonathan Gruber, who has repeatedly said that the key for passing Obamacare was…
The College Rape Club
Sorry this column is late. I got raped again on the way home. Twice. I should clarify -- by "raped," I mean that two seductive Barry White songs came on the radio, which, according to the University of Virginia, constitutes rape.
Rep. Ryan's Hope for a Congress That Works
Like two predatory animals circling each other, Republicans and Democrats are trying to sort out the meaning of last month's election and plan strategies for the remaining days of the current Congress and the new one in which Republicans will hold majorities in both houses.
Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), soon to be chairman of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee, spoke with me about the…
Don't Forget to Honor America's Fallen Police Officers
While many in the nation, from Oakland to New York, rally in protest over the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner, I keep wondering: What about the good cops? As with our military personnel, we are often quick to hang the allegedly corrupt but slow to honor those who serve honestly to protect.
According to the nonprofit National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, there are more than 900…
British PM David Cameron Gets It Right On Immigration
There is nothing like a little heat from a third political party to get the attention of career politicians who wish to stay in office.
Nigel Farage, leader of the upstart UK Independent Party (UKIP), has been turning up the heat on British Prime Minister David Cameron over the issue of migrants who come to the UK without jobs and immediately sign up for government benefits.
