Sometimes - Okay, increasingly more and more times ad infinitum - the liberal media becomes an amazing caricature of its own left wing idiocy. Let’s start with that craziness that used to be known in journalism as The Facts. In this case the facts about the shooting this past week at the Capital Gazette in Annapolis, Maryland.

Children are now firmly in play for Hollywood’s “resistance.” Seth Rogen, the pot-friendly star of hits like Sausage Party and the Neighbors franchise, faced a conundrum recently after posing for pictures with a pair of teen fans. “No ban. No wall. No borders at all.” That is the radical rallying cry of the Democratic Socialists of America. Waving desecrated U.S. flags, grubby fists and ratty anarchy banners, DSA's professional protesters are targeting Trump administration officials, threatening immigration enforcement agents, and blockading detention facilities and processing centers nationwide.

My column a fortnight ago, titled "Diversity and Inclusion Harm," focused on the dumbing down of science, technology, engineering and mathematics curricula to achieve a more pleasing mixture of participants in terms of race and sex. Heather Mac Donald, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, wrote about this in her article titled "How Identity Politics Is Harming the Sciences."

As a longtime resident of Virginia, I am well aware of its sordid history when it comes to slavery, racism and discrimination. I can still remember "colored only" restrooms, water fountains, poll taxes and African Americans forced to ride in the back of the bus. Virginia public schools in the 1950s were mostly segregated, as they had been since first established in 1870.

The Washington Post headline was blunt: “‘A blowtorch to the tinder’: Stoking racial tensions is a feature of Trump’s presidency.” Among other things it said this: “President Trump this week likened Hispanic immigrants to vermin. He warned that they would ‘pour into and infest our country.'"
