Letterman: ‘Ahmadinejad is Retiring to...His Ranch in Crawford, Texas’

CBS’s David Letterman made a disgraceful joke Monday evening comparing Iran’s crazed despot Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to former President George W. Bush.

During the opening monologue of the Late Show, the host said, “Ahmadinejad is retiring. He's going to spend all of his time on his ranch in Crawford, Texas” (video follows with transcribed lowlights and commentary):

“Hey, you remember evil dictator of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad?” Letterman teased. “Well, no longer evil dictator. They had election, and he's out, and I was thinking, ‘Boy, you thought Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was in bad mah-mood before, he's really in a bad mah-mood now."

After a video clip introducing the new president of Iran, Letterman said, “Ahmadinejad is retiring. He's going to spend all of his time on his ranch in Crawford, Texas.”

How disgusting.

Apparently not to Politico’s Roger Simon who tweeted the line to his followers Monday moments after Letterman said it:

Now in fairness to Simon, he does regularly tweet jokes made by late night comedians as well as comments made by their guests.

However, one would think an American so-called “journalist” would have found this one too offensive to repeat without making people aware that he found it so.

Or maybe not.
