Operation Epic Fury, the U.S. military campaign launched to dismantle Iran's nuclear ambitions, missile arsenal, navy, and proxy networks, represents a decisive strike against a long-standing threat. Yet, as Media Research Center (MRC) President David Bozell highlighted in his Friday, March 6 interview on WMAL with host Derek Hunter, the mainstream media's coverage has been predictably negative and doom-laden.
Bozell pointed out that for much of the week following the operation's start, networks fixated on predictions of failure, economic fallout, and risks to U.S. service members—essentially betting against American success. He described this as the press being "in the prediction business," more interested in America's potential loss than in reporting facts on the ground.
“At the end of the day, they want Trump to lose,” Bozell said. “They want Trump to fail, and by extension, they want America to fail. That's the motivation of their coverage. They can't have him possibly bring peace to the Middle East. That's what their view is. How dare he? How dare he attempt to try to solve this problem that has plagued this city, Washington, DC, for 47 years, and many presidents have come before him to try to solve this issue.”
This is what the media consider to be news. They're in the business of predicting America losing. @DavidBozell @derekahunter pic.twitter.com/tzvEB9SFDZ

This bias leaves a glaring void. Bozell emphasized a "terrific opportunity" for the conservative media ecosystem to step up. Conservative outlets need investment to deploy reporters to hotspots, providing balanced, on-the-ground coverage that mainstream sources lack the will—or resources—to deliver. He cited examples like citizen journalists exposing major stories with minimal tools, proving it can be done without massive budgets.
"I know we've got plenty of players,” Bozell noted. "But, we need investment in the conservative ecosystem to get reporters on the ground in some of these hot spots. We're kind of looking through the glass here, ‘Can we play? Can we report some things?' We just don't have the resources. I think there's a terrific opportunity for more players on the scene to create more competition.”
Conservative media needs to step up its game and compete with the liars in the elitist media. @DavidBozell @derekahunter pic.twitter.com/L5dbwOucmX

The interview underscores a pivotal moment. While the establishment press peddles gloom, conservative voices have the chance to deliver truthful, competitive reporting that lifts the narrative and counters the anti-Trump, anti-America slant. With faith in the president's judgment—based on intelligence he can't fully disclose—Americans deserve coverage that celebrates our military strength.
