Survey Says: Majority of Britons Believe Global Warming is Natural

According to the UK's Life Style Extra, a majority of 4,000 people surveyed believe global warming is a natural occurrence, as opposed to being caused by mankind, despite a scientific consensus claimed by the article:

ALMOST three quarters of people believe global warming is a 'natural occurrence' and not a result of carbon emissions, a survey claimed today.

This goes against the views of the vast majority of scientists who believe the rise in the earth's temperatures is due to pollution.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which represents most scientists, stated earlier that the increase in global temperatures is 'very likely due to the observed increase of man-made greenhouse gas concentrations'.

They define very likely as 'more than 90 percent certain'.

But is there really "consensus" among all of the world's scientists? Perhaps if there was, we wouldn't be hearing from the likes of meteorologist Reid Bryson, professor emeritus at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He not only thinks global warming is a natural phenomenon, but that the current "consensus" has something to do with grant money, as we see in this recent interview with the Madison Capital Times:

So, if global warming isn't such a burning issue, why are thousands of scientists so concerned about it?

"Why are so many thousands not concerned about it?" Bryson shot back.

"There is a lot of money to be made in this," he added. "If you want to be an eminent scientist you have to have a lot of grad students and a lot of grants. You can't get grants unless you say, 'Oh global warming, yes, yes, carbon dioxide.'"

It's interesting that a phenomenon driven largely by the left, which generally despises any monetary gains, actually may have more to do with man-made green stuff than green living.

When fear-mongering journalists and self-appointed experts like Al Gore claim that the debate is over because a consensus they define agrees, they do a disservice to the scientific method and to the public at large. And that their efforts have not convinced a "consensus" of the public must drive them absolutely mad...which means their efforts will likely be doubled.
