Kirsten Powers Slams Media for Misrepresenting Bachmann, Evangelical V

August 16th, 2011 10:44 AM
She never mentioned colleague Michelle Goldberg by name, but it's hard to think that former Democratic strategist and Fox News contributor Kirsten Powers didn't have her in mind when she penned her August 15 Daily Beast column, "Stop Attacking Evangelicals!" You may recall that on August 14, Goldberg laid out her Michele Bachmann-is-a-theocrat conspiracy theory.

British Reporter Snapped Now-Infamous Bachmann Corndog Photo

August 15th, 2011 6:06 PM
The London Daily Telegraph may be a Conservative Party-friendly newspaper, but it's certainly doing Republican candidate Michele Bachmann no favors on this side of the Pond with a very unflattering, sexually-suggestive photo of the Minnesota congresswoman eating a foot-long corndog at the Iowa State Fair that's making the rounds on the Internet. The Telegraph's U.S. editor Toby Harnden…

Daily Beast/Newsweek: Michele Bachmann Has 'Christian Plot' for 'Domin

August 15th, 2011 11:08 AM
It's apparently not enough for Newsweek to slam 2012 presidential hopeful Rep. Michele Bachmann  as the "Queen of Rage." Daily Beast/Newsweek's Michelle Goldberg went a few more steps off the deep end yesterday by exploring how the Minnesota Republican, and, for good measure Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) are Christian theocrats-in-waiting:

AP's Crutsinger Cites Two Less Than Stellar Econ Reports As 'Strong

August 12th, 2011 4:05 PM
The next time I plan to escape reality for an extended time, I won't go to the trouble of forwarding the phones to voicemail and swearing off the Internet and TV for a few days. I'll just take whatever the Associated Press's Martin Crutsinger must be consuming. Crutsinger's 11:45 report this morning claims that "The better-than-expected retail sales report is the second strong signal on the…

August 12th, 2011 3:20 PM
"More than a dozen trade unions plan to sit out the 2012 Democratic convention because of their anger over the site of the meeting in a right-to-work state and their frustration over Democrats' struggles to create jobs," Sam Hananel of the Associated Press reported this afternoon.

AP: Unemployment Claims Dip to Pre-Revised 395K Is 'Good News,' Alone

August 11th, 2011 9:32 PM
If we're to believe Associated Press reporter Daniel Wagner, this morning's report from the Department of Labor on unemployment claims revealing that initial claims during the week ended August 6 fell to 395,000, was "good news." Why, according to Wagner, that drop, all by itself, it was "enough to catapult stocks," pushing the Dow up by 423 points in Thursday's trading. Uh, not exactly,…

Name That Party: Pa. 'Kids for Cash' Dem Judge Sentenced, No Party ID

August 11th, 2011 12:58 PM
About the only "good" thing you can say about the Associated Press's coverage of Luzerne County, Pennsylvania judge Mark Ciavarella is that they have been consistent. That is, the wire service, led by reporter Michael Rubinkam, up to and including today, has consistently and disgracefully failed to tag the infamous "Kids for Cash" jurist and his judicial colleague in crime Michael Conahan as a…

Media Mash: Newsweek 'Queen of Rage' Smear of Michele Bachmann Edition

August 11th, 2011 10:43 AM
"I don't know what's worse," Tina Brown's selection of the wild-eyed Michele Bachmann cover photo for Newsweek or her "bold-faced lie" defending the choice, NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell told Fox News's Sean Hannity on his program last night. "There's not a person in the face of this Earth that looks at that picture and says, 'she looks more presidential,' which is what Tina Brown"…

Daily Kos Hates Humans: 'We Could Really Use a Global Superplague

August 11th, 2011 8:48 AM
Liberals like to describe themselves as the most compassionate ones, the ones that believe like Hubert Humphrey did that the moral test of a society is how it treats its vulnerable citizens in the dawn and the twilight of life. That's not the party line at the Daily Kos. Jon Stafford bluntly wrote on Wednesday night that "I often describe myself as 'Not Pro-Choice, Pro-Abortion.  There are…

AP's Academic 'Expert' Excusing Flash Mob Crime Is An Undisclosed New

August 10th, 2011 12:27 AM
NOTE: This post replicates one which originally appeared on August 10 but was inadvertently deleted due to system complications two days later. For some reason, Associated Press reporters Eric Tucker and Thomas Watkins, in a story about the wave of flash mob crime in the U.S. this summer, felt compelled to find an "expert" who would express some sympathy for its participants. Well, they…

Mediaite's Christopher Calls 'Bulls**t' on Newsweek Over Bachmann 'Out

August 9th, 2011 3:01 PM
Probably in response to a firestorm of criticism over their cover photo of Rep. Michele Bachmann, Newsweek today released a slideshow of "outtakes" that they say show that, in essence, the Minnesota Republican is unphotogenic and didn't give them much to work with in terms of a flattering photo. For his part, left-leaning Mediaite.com reporter Tommy Christopher isn't buying it, calling "bulls…

Liberal Conference Featuring Van Jones to Admit Reporters, Bloggers fo

August 9th, 2011 1:34 PM
Being a liberal journalist or blogger has its perks, such as a free attendance to a conference this October that will feature former Obama aide and 9/11 Truther Van Jones. But wait, there's more: a scrumptious awards dinner honoring an abortion advocate!

ABC Glorifies 'Freeganism' (Read: Dumpster Diving) As 'Sustainable' Pr

August 8th, 2011 4:43 PM
The credit downgrade must be having truly deleterious effects on New York-based reporters. At least one is hyping the merits of "freeganism," which is just a politically correct euphemism for dumpster diving. "Amid S&P downgrades and widespread panic about financial markets, an anti-consumerism movement quietly marches on: Freeganism," ABCNews.com's Reshma Kirpalani argued in an August 8…
