Networks Continue Using Terror Threat to Pressure GOP on DHS Funding

Continuing to hype a possible "shutdown" of the Homeland Security Department if Congress did not approve funding by Friday, Tuesday's network morning shows all seized on White House talking points that any delay in funding would threaten national security and placed blame for the budget impasse squarely on Republicans.

San Jose Mercury News: Global Warming Could Ruin Surfing

In an article chock full of "could" and computer model projections, the San Jose Mercury News speculates in its headline, "Climate change may flatten Santa Cruz's famed surfing waves." Key word is "may" since it also may not. However, this doesn't prevent reporter James Urton from engaging in extreme conjecture about surf conditions in a century while computer model projections are often unable…

Chris Matthews on GOP: They 'Hate,' 'Hate,' 'Hate,' 'Hate' Obama!

In case he's been too subtle in the past, an unhinged Chris Matthews made himself clear on Monday: He thinks the Republicans "hate" Barack Obama. The Hardball anchor fumed over insufficient outrage at Rudy Giuliani's assertion that Obama doesn't "love America." In the span of one show, he hit Republicans as "haters" seven times.

MSNBC’s O’Donnell: Love of America ‘Might Not Even Be Necessary’

On Monday night, MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell devoted his nightly “rewrite” segment to challenging former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s claim that he loves America. During his lengthy diatribe, the MSNBC host not only suggested that “when Rudy Giuliani talks about love, he has, and we have, no idea what he’s talking about” and “love of country isn’t easily defined and might not even be…

WashPost's Milbank Comes Unglued Over Walker's Christian 'Punt'

Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank came positively unglued in Tuesday’s newspaper. He tweeted out this attack on Scott Walker: “Can we be sure Scott Walker isn't a eunuch, Klansman, ISIS sleeper cell or IBS sufferer?” Like other paranoid Obama-loving liberals, Milbank can’t stand that Walker would punt when liberal Washington Post reporters ask gotcha questions about whether Obama is a…

WashPost Media Blogger Slow to Note Conflict of Interest on O'Reilly

Washington Post media blogger Erik Wemple devoted a whole post to a fuss caused by David Corn of Mother Jones magazine claiming Bill O’Reilly exaggerated the drama of covering the Falkland Islands war for CBS in 1982. The left is trying to knock off O’Reilly after the Brian Williams scandal. At the very bottom of the post was this: “(Disclosure: The wife of the Erik Wemple Blog works for Mother…

CBS Skews Stats to Back Up Patricia Arquette’s Equal Pay Claim

All three major broadcast networks took time during their post-Oscars stories on Monday night to mention actress Patricia Arquette’s calls for “wage equality” and “equal rights for women,” but it was the CBS Evening News that went one step further by devoting a whole segment to the topic and used loaded statistics to craft a one-sided argument to prop up Arquette’s rant. Anchor Scott Pelley noted…

MSNBC 'All In' Panel Obsessed Over Skin Tone of Oscar Awardees

Oh, Hollywood, you're racist and you don't even know it! That was the undercurrent of post-Oscars analysis delivered by Chris Hayes and panelists on the Monday, February 23 edition of All In. From emcee Neil Patrick Harris's opening joke to a running bit with Octavia Spencer to Sean Penn's "green card" joke, the faculty-lounge lefties assembled on set lectured the Academy Awards for being too…

Howard Dean: Scott Walker Says Obama Born In Kenya

How unhinged has Howard Dean become? So bad that an MSNBC host had to gently walk him back off the ledge. On Chris Hayes' MSNBC show tonight, Dean claimed that Scott Walker says Barack Obama was "born in Kenya."  It took Hayes two attempts to break through Dean's blather, but eventually he was able to politely point out: "I should note, you mention the Kenya thing, he has not been asked that."
