Vox.com Bumbles on Homelessness and Mental Illness

James Taranto at The Wall Street Journal picked on the liberal "explainer" site Vox.com on Friday under the headline "Two Voxen In One!" In a story on "11 myths about homelessness," German Lopez seemed very contradictory. There was "Myth #4: Homelessness is typically related to mental illness." Lopez then immediately allowed that "Serious mental illnesses are more prevalent among the homeless."

Kurtz: Boston Globe's Boehner Blunder Reflects 'Ugly Media Mindset'

Howard Kurtz, the Fox News analyst and the host of its "Media Buzz" program, made a few pertinent observations in a column about Victor Paul Alvarez's astonishingly crass attempt at humor at Boston.com earlier this week. That said, Kurtz should have criticized the web site and its parent, the Boston Globe, for its completely unsatisfactory explanation for the one "correction" it made to Alvarez's…

Kerry & Taylor in Paris Leaves Limbaugh 'Embarrassed' to be American

This time, Rush Limbaugh also speaks for plenty of liberals, though few could ever bring themselves to admit it. El Rushbo could hardly contain his indignation on his radio show yesterday in response to the bizarre spectacle of Secretary of State John Kerry sheepishly trying to compensate for the lack of a high-profile American presence at last weekend's unity march in France by bringing folky…

Missing Oscar Nods for 'Selma' Could Be Paramount's Fault

In November 2013, a director calling himself “Alan Smithee” wrote for The American Thinker about charges of discrimination in Hollywood, and unpacked the facts about the rarity of minorities in directing. On Saturday, he wrote to NewsBusters to explain there was a reason other than racism in Selma not getting Best Director or Best Actor nominations. “Smithee” loves getting the screener DVDs for…

NBC Hyped 'Da Vinci Code,' but 'Charlie Hebdo' Is Too Offensive

In the wake of the massacre of 12 people in France by Muslim terrorists, NBC has made an editorial decision to not show the cover of the new Charlie Hebdo cover featuring Muhammad, deeming it too offensive for viewers.

Will NBC Affiliates Allow an Attack on Comcast/NBC to Air?

ComcastNBC loves its customers….but it hates some of them. What else is there to say about a major American media corporation that just is so eager for business - but hates the conservative beliefs of some of those same customers? This teensy problem -- disapproving the politics of its customers -- is now threatening to throw a monkey wrench into the media giant’s bid to merge with TimeWarner…

NYT's Alarmist Enviro Reporter Eagerly 'Undermines' Warming Skeptics

Justin Gillis, the New York Times most alarmist environmental reporter, eagerly "undermined" "climate-change contrarians" (the paper stopped calling it "global warming" when temperatures failed to cooperate) on Saturday's front page, under the headline "2014 Breaks Heat Record, Challenging Global Warming Skeptics." But a roundup of skeptical scientists emphasized that the "record high"…

Bozell & Graham Column: The Golden Globes of Propaganda

When the Golden Globe awards telecast was over, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) proclaimed, “It was a great night for LGBT-inclusive television.” They could have added: "We run the joint." The creator of the transgender-promoting show "Transparent" unleashed a new word when she won: "And it’s dedicated to you, my trans parent, my ‘Moppa.’ You’re watching at home right now…

Dishonest Degeneres: Gay Activist Ellen Says 'I Don't Have An Agenda'

The magazine TV Week certainly demonstrated a bias as it promoted a “Must-See Video: With Humor and Class Ellen DeGeneres Punctures Argument of Christian Pastor Who Accuses Her of Promoting a Gay Agenda on Her TV Show.” DeGeneres insisted "I don't have an agenda," which is easily disproven, given her oozy interviews with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama and her pushing on her own show for gay…

’1 in 3 Men Would Commit Rape’ Study Leader Doesn't Care About Facts

On Tuesday, I posted (at NewsBusters; at BizzyBlog) on a bogus "study" out of North Dakota University contending that "almost one in 3 college men would commit rape 'if nobody would ever know and there wouldn’t be any consequences.'" Media exposure from favorable and unfavorable outlets continues to grow. In that post, I noted that the study disqualified itself from credibility by uncriticially…

Colbert Replacement: Ann Coulter's 'Very Smart' and 'Very Wrong'

Larry Wilmore, the replacement for Stephen Colbert, begins on Monday night at 11:30. Comedy Central executive Kent Alterman bowed to the Almighty Jon Stewart on this one: “Considering Jon's track record when it comes to discovering talent, you'd have to be a real idiot to argue with him." In an interview with Esquire magazine, Wilmore restated all his palaver about being a "passionate centrist…

Jim Clancy Leaves CNN After 34 Years Over Online Clash About Israel

For more than three decades, international correspondent Jim Clancy reported the news and anchored several programs for the Cable News Network. That long-time record came to an abrupt end on Friday, when he left CNN more than a week after he got into an angry Twitter argument in which he claimed that people who disagree with him regarding Mohammed cartoons are “agents for Israel” and used a…

At Obama Press Conference, No Questions on Skipping Anti-Terror Rally

Barack Obama on Friday conducted an almost hour-long news conference with journalists, but faced no questions on his administration's much-maligned decision not to send a representative to Sunday's massive anti-terror rally in France.
