NYT Takes Trump Seriously, At Least When He Calls GOP Rivals 'Puppets'

Strange new respect? Two days after the New York Times labeled real estate mogul and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump a racist on its front page based on thin evidence, the Times is suddenly treating one of his Twitter pronouncements as newsworthy, with Ashley Parker devoting an entire story to Trump's tweet. Perhaps because he's attacking his fellow GOP candidates as "puppets" of…

MSNBC's Hayes Hints That Hamas and Israeli Govt Both Incite Violence

On Friday's All In show, MSNBC host Chris Hayes hinted that there was similar credibility between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blaming the terrorist group Hamas for the murders of three Jewish students a year ago, and Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat blaming the Israeli government for the recent murder of a Palestinian boy by Jewish extremists, even though Prime Minister Netanyahu…

Lefty Blogger: GOP Base Buying Trump’s ‘Purer Brand of Crazy’

Almost a quarter-century ago, Seal sang, “We're never gonna survive unless we get a little crazy.” These days, suggests Talking Points Memo’s Josh Marshall, it’s awfully hard to survive in the Republican presidential race if you’re only a little crazy, now that Donald Trump “has flooded the market with a new, purer brand of Crazy that has left the other candidates scrambling and basically unable…

Guess Who? 10 News Outlets Tweeting Cecil the Lion More than Abortion

Media coverage isn’t just about who writes the news – it’s also about who delivers the news. Since last week, social media gurus have pumped out tweets about Cecil, the famed African lion shot by an American dentist. But the story of aborted baby parts sorted and dissected in the name of “research” by Planned Parenthood didn’t make the cut on Twitter. The broadcast networks tweeted updates about…

Networks Ignore 'Backlash' Caused by Companys $70k Minimum Wage

The man called America’s “Boss of the Year” (at least, by ABC News) is facing problems, including a staff exodus, after giving a massive to boost to many of his employees’ salaries. Seattle-based Gravity Payments CEO Dan Price announced in April 2015 that he would implement a minimum $70,000 salary for all his employees. Back then,  ABC, NBC and CBS pounced on the story and praised Price.

By contrast, the programs set aide 12 minutes and 22 seconds of air time to segments related to the outcry over the…

Chuck Todd Lectures Ben Carson Over ‘Black Lives Matter’ Movement

In an interview with Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson on NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday, host Chuck Todd demanded to know why the GOP contender had been critical of the left-wing “Black Lives Matter” movement: “...you were also, in an earlier interview this week, asked about the Black Lives Matter movement. And you called it ‘silly.’ Why did you call it silly?” Todd proceeded to…

Andrea Mitchell Acts as Doormat for Planned Parenthood President

On Monday, MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell hosted Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards for a friendly interview to help the nation’s largest abortion provider defend itself from recent criticism over the alleged sale of fetal body parts for profit. Throughout the interview, the MSNBC host repeatedly stressed how four videos that showed Planned Parenthood employees discussing the sale of fetal…

New Yorker Editor Eulogizes Jon Stewart, 'Invaluable Patriot'

It’s going to be a fawning and funereal week for liberals, all competing with each other to see who can offer the most overripe eulogy for Jon Stewart. New Yorker editor David Remnick called Stewart an “invaluable patriot” because he took on what novelist Philip Roth called the “indigenous American berserk.”  That must be the crackpot equivalent of American exceptionalism.

Josh Earnest Talks Like Obama Prefers Biden Over Hillary

On today's Morning Joe, Josh Earnest said that President Obama believes that picking Biden as his VP was the "smartest decision he ever made in politics." Joe Scarborough drew the mischievous-but-logical inference that Obama must thus believe it was smarter than picking Hillary as his Secretary of State.  Though Mika interrupted to say that's not what he meant, Earnest never said boo to counter…

Monday’s New Day on CNN saw a continuation of the program’s defense of Planned Parenthood from its video scandal and the efforts in Congress to defund the abortion provider as co-host Chris Cuomo sparred with Republican Congresswoman Diane Black (Tenn.) about the “rush to defund” them over that he claimed “has long been legal and is certainly not cause for outrage or at least hasn't been until…

NBC Delicately Suggests Biden Is Known for 'Excessive Exuberance'

All three networks on Monday hyped the possible presidential run of Joe Biden, but only NBC's journalists used the word "gaffe" in relation to the Vice President. Today reporter Andrea Mitchell offered a delicate explanation, saying that the Democrat has been known for "excessive exuberance."  The journalist reminded, "Biden has run for president twice before, and stumbled. And as Vice President…

Is political activism included in your phone plan?  T-Mobile seems to have no problem selling it to current and potential customers. On Sunday, the wireless phone company added a political post on its Instagram and Twitter accounts, that seemed to advocate for illegal immigration.
