A few days ago, when Lebron James whined about his team and his league’s “difficult week,” he wasn’t just flipping off Muslim Uighurs and Hong Kong freedom protesters suffering in China. He was throwing Chinese Christians under the bus too.
Liberal networks routinely express disgust that Christian conservatives aren't speaking out against Trump, somehow missing the dramatic difference between the policy stands of Trump and the Democrats, who now stand in favor of repealing tax exemptions for churches and other radical stands. At CNN.com, John Blake singled out contemporary Christian musicians as "copouts" for failing to denounce Trump, and somehow wasting their energy with "upbeat praise and worship music."
On today's Morning Joe, Scarborough scalded Beto O'Rourke's gun confiscation proposal as a "stupendously bad ide." Joe fretted that the proposal, along with O'Rourke's support for stripping tax-exempt status from religious groups that don't support same-sex marriage, would be "be repeated around the clock between now and next November by whoever is the Republican nominee." When Joe interviewed O'Rourke a bit later, he pressed him on the confiscation proposal, eventually forcing Beto to admit that people declining to comply with such a law would receive a "visit" from "law enforcement," which would "recover" the firearms.
In what many have seen as one of his more provocative moves to date, the larger-than-life rapper, producer, and clothing designer Kanye West has decided to take his new Christian-themed concerts to historically black Howard University, prompting more of the “Kanye, what are you doing?” responses from his former lefty colleagues who can’t stand that he’s an owner of a “Make America Great Again” hat.
The LGBT lobby is one of the most powerful political and cultural forces in the United States today. They have massive influence in Hollywood. Therefore, it is practically impossible to turn on your television any given night of the week without seeing this powerful lobby’s influence over a show. This is true regardless of how “family-friendly” or “faith-oriented” the show may be.
Despite the fact that the Jeffrey Zucker-led CNN has created a cottage industry out of town halls involving presidential candidates and/or their liberal causes, CNN showed very little interest in recapping their four-and-a-half-hour, horrendously-rated Thursday night LGBTQ town hall with nine 2020 Democratic presidential candidates. Between midnight and 7:30 p.m. Eastern Friday (so 21 and a half hours total), CNN shows spent just under 25 minutes (24 minutes and 47 seconds) on a town hall that featured a slew of alienating takes.
After thinking that having a seven-hour-long town hall about climate change was a great idea, CNN returned Thursday night with a four-and-a-half hour town hall partnering with the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) about LGBTQ issues. Rampant protests calling attention to black transwomen, Chris Cuomo joking about preferred pronouns, and flat-out abuse with transgender elementary-age children were just a few of the things that transpired.
The Ryan Murphy-produced American Horror Story has returned for a new season titled 1984, and so far, it’s been pretty tame compared to earlier seasons. Sure, the FX series still contains the usual amount of gore, sex, and vapid characters, but unlike Cult, there’s nocontinuous onslaught of outrageous liberal bias.
In a surprising move, CBS This Morning on Tuesday defended a judge in Texas who gave a Bible to convicted murderer Amber Guyger. Judge Tammy Kemp last week made the dramatic gesture after the brother of the man the police officer shot called on Guyger to turn her life over to Jesus. CBS’s Vladimir Duthiers highlighted the complaints of atheist organizations: “There is a religious group Freedom From Religion Foundation group. It’s a secular group that challenges religious displays in government.”
The debate about political power and authority among those who profess the Christian faith has raged since the 1st century. In modern America, the debate raged throughout Jimmy Carter's presidency and more recently through the presidencies of Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. The debate now looms large for Donald Trump. Newsweek magazine labeled 1976 “The Year of the Evangelical” because of Carter's openness about his faith.
Singer and former Disney Channel star Demi Lovato has been the subject of social media backlash lately because her personal and “spiritual” trip to Israel in recent days is not PC enough for woketivists. People gave the pop star so much garbage over photos of her baptism in the Jordan River that she was compelled to apologize.
The brother of a murder victim shocked a courtroom on Wednesday as he offered an overtly religious act of forgiveness, urging the killer to turn to Jesus Christ. But you wouldn’t know that from the network morning show coverage on Thursday. Today, Good Morning America and CBS This Morning skipped the appeal to faith, instead portraying it as more generalized forgiveness. Later in the day, View co-host Joy Behar rejected the call to grace and instead insisted, “I think to hold onto the rage gives you strength.”
