Colbert Sneers: Fox News Would Be Just a Test Pattern If You Ban Liars

March 28th, 2019 6:19 AM

During Tuesday night’s edition of The Late Show on CBS, liberal host Stephen Colbert yet again slammed President Trump. He also trashed Fox News as full of liars. This is ironic, given how wrong the rest of the media was on the Mueller report.

As part of his routine that evening, the late-night comic attempted to shift blame from Trump’s critics to the President himself “because he acted super-guilty.”

Of course, Colbert and other “comedians” would criticize Trump regardless of how he behaved, and if liars were banned from television, he claimed, Fox News would be “just a test pattern.”

The host began by asserting that Trump “cyber-bullied” in a tweet earlier in the day:

The mainstream media is under fire and being scorned all over the World as being corrupt and FAKE.

For two years they pushed the Russian Collusion Delusion when they always knew there was No Collusion.

Colbert then joked: “So you can understand our confusion on the collusion delusion since your whole thing is rootin’ for Putin for darn tootin.’” Given how much journalists and Hollywood types fawned over Robert Mueller, they are apparently now ignoring his conclusions.

Of course, the CBS host was far from done hammering Trump and other conservatives.

Trump wasn’t all talk yesterday,” he stated before explaining that the re-election campaign “sent a memo to television producers about the ‘credibility’ of six Trump critics who it says spread false claims about collusion.”

Not surprisingly, Colbert defended the Democrats who have slammed the President, including Massachusetts Senator Richard Blumenthal, California Senator Adam Schiff, New York Representative Jerrold Nadler, California Representative Eric Smalwell, DNC Chair Tom Perez and former CIA Director John Brennan.

After jokingly referring to the people on the list as “lovable hunks onscreen,” the host noted that the end of the document asked: “Does this guest warrant further appearances in our programming, given the outrageous and unsupported claims made in the past?”

Colbert then noted: “Yes, I think cable news should ban appearances by everyone who has ever made an outrageous or unsupported claim.”

“Mr. President, you will be missed,” he added.

As a result, the host noted, Trump “would have to lie door to door.”

The host then noted that the memo was addressed to television producers. “Now, I’ve worked in TV for a long time,” and “all TV producers don’t share the same mailbox.”

The liberal comic also stated: ”It’s not just Trump. If you ban everyone who lies for Trump on TV, Fox News would just be a test pattern.”

“There wouldn’t even be commercials,” he added.

As NewsBusters has often reported, Colbert has been hammering Trump on a daily basis, even after Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report cleared the President of any collusion with Russia or obstruction of the investigation.
