Ana Navarro Predicts Everyone Dying from Russian Plague Because of Trump

ABC’s “bona fide news program” The View engaged in some pretty serious alarmism on Wednesday, when co-host Ana Navarro predicted the Russian plague causing mass deaths across America because of the Trump administration. Clearly concerned about The View being accused of causing a national panic, moderator Whoopi Goldberg tried to walk back their doomerism. However, Goldberg would later engage in more electioneering by telling viewers voting against President Trump was “the right thing” to do.

“I'm just so -- I don't know -- scarred, I guess from the COVID experience that when I hear this, I just kind of want to put my hands to my ears, curl up in the fetal position, and say wake me up when it's over,” Navarro griped in their Hot Topics conversation about reports of the Russian pneumonic plague.

Navarro lamented that, “this is why I think it's so important that we have qualified people in government (…) Because things like this are going to come up. There's going to be crisis, there's going to be health emergencies.”

She rhetorically shuttered to think about what was going to happen in America with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as secretary of Health and Human Services. She had instructions for her girlfriends: “And, you know, when I think of RFK Jr. heading HHS, I just say, girl, kiss your ass goodbye!”

Possibly already imagining the headlines that were going to be published because of Navarro’s comments, Goldberg audibly groaned as she set out to try to walk back what was just suggested. She argue there were still competent people working to keep Americans safe:

GOLDBERG: Well, no. Um. So. [Groans] A lot of people got fired.

NAVARRO: A lot, Whoopi, a lot.

GOLDBERG: But a lot of people didn't, and those are the people who are putting out the information that we actually are getting on what is available to us, what you can take, how you should be dealing with stuff.

Goldberg’s wheels were spinning in place, rambling in a run-on sentence as she tried to argue there were “at least 75” good workers still at HHS, but Navarro was insistent that the Trump administration had made everyone more vulnerable:

GOLDBERG: I am not going to assume at all that because he's incompetent, they're not competent, because that's why so much stuff has continued in a way that it should continue, because the people who are in place, they might not all be there the way they were before, they might not be hundreds of them, but there's at least 75 of them and they're working their tails off to make sure that we're getting competent information.

NAVARRO: There are very good people there, but they cut the funding. They’ve cut the research.

Their argument continued as the producers were trying to play them off. Navarro resorted to regurgitating the “inject bleach” hoax again, while co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin jumped in to try and help save Goldberg (Click “expand”):

NAVARRO: And the guy who told us to inject bleach is president again.

FARAH GRIFFIN: The CDC director is a highly qualified public health professional.

GOLDBERG: Yeah. And again, we're not listening these people who tell you to inject bleach. We're telling you, there is some competency there and we should not have to panic the way we did before when we didn't know who was doing what or what was in charge. We know what's not there now and now we can plan better.

However, if you thought Goldberg had changed her ways, you’d be wrong. While she apparently was above using the show to sow panic over a plague, she wasn’t above continuing to use the show to electioneer for the midterms.

As she was wrapping up a later segment, Goldberg advocated for doing “the right thing” and voting against Trump. One of her biggest selling points was that voters would somehow be able to spend more time with her kids:

If we do the right thing, we're doing it for everybody. Everybody doesn't get what they want, but we get most of what we want. So, we need to get back in balance, the country needs to get back in balance, and we need to get ourselves back in balance so we can give the attention to our kid, give the attention to our jobs and have some breathing room. And that's what you're voting for. You're voting for breathing room.

ANA NAVARRO: I'm just so -- I don't know -- scarred, I guess from the COVID experience that when I hear this, I just kind of want to put my hands to my ears, curl up in the fetal position, and say wake me up when it's over. And this is why I think it's so important that we have qualified people in government.

SUNNY HOSTIN: Yes.

NAVARRO: And why I am so -- You know, I just don't give a pass to Republican senators who voted to confirm RFK Jr. As secretary of Health knowing he was unqualified; including people like Bill Cassidy, who’s a doctor himself.

HOSTIN: You're right.

NAVARRO: The senator. Because things like this are going to come up. There's going to be crisis, there's going to be health emergencies. And, you know, when I think of RFK Jr. heading HHS, I just say, girl, kiss your ass goodbye!

HOSTIN: Yeah.

[Applause]

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Well, no. Um. So. [Groans] A lot of people got fired.

NAVARRO: A lot, Whoopi, a lot.

GOLDBERG: But a lot of people didn't, and those are the people who are putting out the information that we actually are getting on what is available to us, what you can take, how you should be dealing with stuff.

I am not -- I am not going to assume at all that because he's incompetent, they're not competent, because that's why so much stuff has continued in a way that it should continue, because the people who are in place, they might not all be there the way they were before, they might not be hundreds of them, but there's at least 75 of them and they're working their tails off to make sure that we're getting competent information.

NAVARRO: There are very good people there, but they cut the funding. They’ve cut the research.

[Outro music starts to play]

GOLDBERG: I understand that but I want people to know -

NAVARRO: And the guy who told us to inject bleach is president again.

ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN: The CDC director is a highly qualified public health professional.

GOLDBERG: Yeah. And again, we're not listening these people who tell you to inject bleach. We're telling you, there is some competency there and we should not have to panic the way we did before when we didn't know who was doing what or what was in charge. We know what's not there now and now we can plan better.

And as I said, you know, this is -- this is a plague that they have - they have  -

[Crosstalk]

GOLDBERG: - treatment for. It's the bubonic, bubonic that you have to be way more concerned about.

(…)

11:21:44 a.m. Eastern

GOLDBERG: Look, he's tried to intimidate people. He's tried to buy people. He's tried to -- they -- It's a little too late because people have been living with you for two years, and --

HOSTIN: And we don't like it.

GOLDBERG: No, we don't like it. But now, nobody is liking it and that's what we needed. Because it's not just one group that has to bear this burden, if we do the right thing, we're doing it for everybody. Everybody doesn't get what they want, but we get most of what we want.

So, we need to get back in balance, the country needs to get back in balance, and we need to get ourselves back in balance so we can give the attention to our kid, give the attention to our jobs and have some breathing room.

HOSTIN: Yep.

GOLDBERG: And that's what you're voting for. You're voting for breathing room. We'll be right back.
