Governor DeSantis's Press Team Claps Back Against The View’s Interview Request

The coven that occupies the soundstage of ABC’s The View are not fans of Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis and, along with the fact that they’ve been very vocal about it, NewsBusters has been right there documenting it. But on Tuesday, we learned that the show reached out to the popular Governor pleading with this team to get him on the show. But his team rejected the request and clapped back with examples of the show’s nasty smears against him.

On Monday, DeSantis’s deputy press secretary Bryan Griffin tweeted that “[The View] emailed our office on Friday asking for us to arrange an appearance from Governor DeSantis on the show. ‘We would be honored,’ they wrote.” He also asked his followers for their “thoughts” on the matter.

In a follow-up tweet on Tuesday, Griffin added a screenshot of the DeSantis team’s response where they told off the booker:

Thanks for the invite. I understand that you are sending this request on behalf of your team.

But are the hosts of the View really interested in hearing from Governor DeSantis about all the important work he is doing on behalf of Floridians to protect their health and livelihoods, to stand up for parents and children, and defend freedom?

“Which of the below statements from the hosts of [T]he View do you recommend our team consider when deciding if the interview will a genuine pursuit of the truth? Or worth our time?” he added, listing off four instances where the co-host spewed hatred at him.

In the first example, co-host Joy Behar called DeSantis “a negligent, homicidal sociopath” trying to “appeal to his white supremacist base.”

Now, we don’t know where the hyperlinks in the email lead to, but NewsBusters has documented some of the incidents mentioned. For instance, we reported how co-host Sunny Hostin called the Governor “Death-Santis” and maliciously described him as “a fascist and a bigot.” And in that same instance, co-host Ana Navarro called his policies “anti-American” and falsely claimed they’re “what happens in Venezuela” and “what happens in Nicaragua.”

There was also the case where Hostin lashed out at DeSantis’s effort to get the racist ideology of Critical Race Theory out of Florida schools. “[T]hose are anti-history laws. Anti-Black history laws really. If you start coming after black people, who comes next? The LGBTQ+  community, and then women and then other marginalized groups. I'm surprised parents have jumped on the bandwagon that this is where it leads,” she rhetorically sneered at parents.

More recently, The View coven used their caldron to cook up a fabricated claim that DeSantis was scamming donors to his gubernatorial campaign with automatic recurring donations. The Governor would later speak out against the lie at a press conference. “I got accused by some of these people on one of these shows… And they tried to say that like, we had auto-donate where it keeps going every month. We do not do that in my [campaign]. They were lying about that. We do not do that,” he declared.

DeSantis’s press secretary, Christina Pushaw put out her own tweet, saying “Liberal media wants to interview Governor DeSantis because his popularity draws ratings. But @GovRonDeSantis will not assist failing legacy media outlets in growing an audience for their smear pieces & biased reporting laden with contempt for Americans.”

Mic drop.
