Whoopi Thinks 'Replacement Theory' Is Invasion of the Body Snatchers

Replacement theory is the belief that a large influx of immigrants to a country will dilute the vote of the native electorate. Yet on The View this week, co-host Whoopi Goldberg flaunted her apparent ignorance as she’s repeatedly suggested the theory is about people being abducted and literally replaced by other people a la Invasion of the Body Snatchers. She’s even shouted demands to see proof that people have had themselves or their families physically replaced.

As NewsBusters research analyst Bill D’Agostino reported, Democrats have viewed immigration policy as a means to achieve their policy agenda and it’s something we know liberals and the media have been vocal in touting for years. But it has since found its way to the Ministry of Truth for deletion.

But as the rest of the cast of The View were simply trying to paint the theory as a racist conspiracy theory, Goldberg didn’t seem to understand what was being discussed. On Monday, as they were going to a commercial break, she scoffed: “well, if it was that easy, wouldn’t your friends have disappeared?” “Think about it,” she requested.

Now Goldberg could just be being facetious in that she’s taking an issue that they claim is of dire importance to iron out and making a joke of it. She could also be trying to lie to viewers about what the theory is about and what people believe. The least morally objectionable is that she simply is that ignorant. This is believable because she claimed, “the Holocaust isn’t about race.”

But it wasn’t a one-off comment. On Tuesday, she expanded on the false notion by suggesting that people believed in replacement theory because they didn’t understand how elections worked. “Four years, we like you. Four years, we like you better. That's what the process is,” she huffed.

“No one is disappeared,” she declared. “I keep saying: prove it! If you’ve been replaced, I want you to show me where 10 of your relatives have disappeared. I want you to show me”

It was during the Wednesday show that Goldberg got very irate with renewed demands for evidence of abducted family members:

Yes. And also, I mean, again, if you can send me proof that you have been replaced or ten people you know have been replaced by me or any of the black and brown or the Jewish people that you know who have actively been replaced, you have to explain where they went --

[Applause]

Okay? Because when you replace something, you have to put something else. So, where did everybody go?! It doesn't make any sense!

The rest of the cast seemed to be concerned with her ignorance on the issue so co-host Sunny Hostin tried to explain it. And in doing so, essentially admitted to the changing demographics. “But the thing is there is a changing demographic in our country,” she said before Goldberg jumped down her throat with: “But that's not replacement!”

Realizing they weren’t going to get Goldberg to budge from her ridiculous misunderstanding, Hostin and the rest of the cast tried to carry on without her by suggesting the “fear” behind the theory was of whites losing power as they become a minority (click "expand"):

HOSTIN: And so, my question is when white people are saying that they're afraid of being replaced, let's say it's true. Let's just say it's true --

GOLDBERG: But it's not. Don't say it's true.

HOSTIN: What are you afraid of? What is this fear?

GOLDBERG: The fear is they're not going to be in the country. That you don't want to talk about --

HOSTIN: And that’s never going to happen.

GOLDBERG: Well, that’s the case. No one is replacing anybody.

JOY BEHAR: One of the fears they have is the people you're referring to will take the jobs that they don't want anyway.

HAINES: One, it's that the white people would not be the majority, those who identify specifically --

HOSTIN: so, if white people are not the majority, what's going to happen?

Goldberg didn’t seem to appreciate getting left behind in the conversation and proceeded to lash out at her co-hosts and the people who understand replacement theory. “None of it makes any sense! You’re trying to make sense out of something that makes no sense! Get over it! You are not being replaced,” she screamed.

This ridiculousness was made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from Ensure and Olay. Their contact information is linked.

SUNNY HOSTIN: I'm sort of surprised that he responded in that way because yes, we all know that you have to respond to racism. Everyone has to do that. But they were asking him in particular about this sort of, you know, white replacement theory and what it led to in Buffalo=.

And to be -- to say it again because I think a lot of people are grappling with what that theory is, and I jumbled my words yesterday. But at its root, the theory holds that not only is immigration to the United States crowding out white people, but that there's this cadre or cabal of elites including Jewish people that are intentionally encouraging that to happen.

So, white supremacists seem to have this belief that they are going to be replaced or are being replaced by black and brown people, intentionally. And I think that the Republican Party, especially the leaders of the Republican Party have to dress down those people that are pushing a theory like that that is leading to violence, and especially people like Tucker Carlson, people like Elise Stefanik that are in their ranks and they're just not coming forward.

SARA HAINES: This is part of why President Biden was compelled to run. He was responding to the white nationalists in Charlottesville, and you remember them chanting “Jews will not replace us,” and all these other abhorrent--

HOSTIN: Yes. It was the replacement theory.

HAINES: Yeah, and that whole idea that was the impetus for Biden saying, I have to do something about this.

JOY BEHAR: It's robots that will replace them, not Jews.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG:  Yes.

HOSTIN: But the thing is there is a changing demographic in our country, right?

GOLDBERG: But that's not replacement!

HOSTIN: It's not replacement--

GOLDBERG: That's called, you lost an election. Do better next time.

HOSTIN: But I'm talking about the changing demographics in our country. We do know that Latinos, Hispanics are a growing part of this country. We do know that

GOLDBERG: Asian folks.

HOSTIN: -- Asian folks, African Americans--

HAINES: Multiracial people are everywhere.

HAINES: They’re not going to be the majority but no one's replacing you!

HOSTIN: What is with the fear?

BEHAR: Well, the fear is that they will take over the jobs and the power that white people have sustained.

GOLDBERG: It makes -- none of it makes any sense! You’re trying to make sense out of something that makes no sense! Get over it! You are not being replaced! You have to stick to this country just like the rest of us and we got to fix it!

We’ll be right back.
