MRC’s Bozell Slams TV Academy for Banning Press, Honoring Bee After Ivanka Slur

RESTON, VA — Media Research Center President Brent Bozell issued the following statement on Friday in response to the Television Academy banning press from attending the event honoring TBS Full Frontal host Samantha Bee. The TV Academy, the same group behind the Emmy Awards, honored Bee with the award just one day after she referred to Ivanka Trump as a “feckless c**t.

According to IndieWire, Bee defended herself in her acceptance speech at the award ceremony Thursday night.

MRC President Brent Bozell:

“In an act of absolute cowardice, the Television Academy not only continued to honor Samantha Bee following her vulgar remarks about Ivanka Trump, but shielded her from criticism by barring the media. Despite her disgusting attack on the President’s daughter, the Academy gave Bee a platform which she used to defend herself and step up her attacks against the White House. The double standard is staggering. This is Hollywood signaling to America that sexist slurs are welcome as long as they are directed at conservatives. It is time TBS does what the TV Academy didn’t have the courage to do: revoke Samantha Bee’s platform by canceling her show.”
