Fifth Ave. was a rolling sea of red, white and blue Tuesday as thousands waved American flags to salute our troops in the Veterans Day Parade..Mayor Bloomberg and other elected officials marched in the parade, which started at 26th St. and ran 30 blocks north. "This is the biggest crowd I have ever seen in the last seven years for this parade," he said. "I don't know whether it's a greater appreciation or patriotism - maybe it's a combination."
How do you explain such a turnout? Is this an indication that Americans more strongly support the war in Iraq than polls and the media suggest? Or is there something else in play?
