On two liberal morning network shows on Wednesday, there were tidings of great joy for the Democrats.
On CNN This Morning, host Audie Cornish played a clip of Bill Maher on Fareed Zakaria's show predicting the Democrats would administer an "ass-whooping" to the Republicans. Maher based his bold forecast on the notion that President Trump hasn't delivered on various promises.
Cornish introduced the Maher clip as "conventional wisdom," and after it rolled, she embraced his take: "I can't sum it up better than that kind of idea."
Over on Morning Joe, Chris Matthews' supposition was more specific: "A month from now, I think the Democrats win the Senate and the House. I think it's gonna be a big, big night for the Dems."
President Hillary Clinton might not be particularly confident in Matthews' powers of prognostication.

In any case, guys, your chicken count has been duly noted. We'll check back on November 4th to see how many hatched.
Here are the transcripts.

AUDIE CORNISH: I want to start with, I think, a conventional wisdom, conventional kind of take. And this one is from Bill Maher. He was on with Fareed Zakaria. This was Sunday on that show. Let me play it for you guys.
BILL MAHER: It's going to be a classic, historical, ass-whooping. He went too far. He didn't, he didn't keep his word on the things that were important to us, ranging from Epstein to no wars to the economy's going to be better, inflation, gas prices, all that stuff. And this is what we need to register our feelings on in 2026. We'll get to the other stuff later, perhaps. But right now, we have one message. Donald Trump went too far, and his party will pay.
CORNISH: I can't sum it up better than that kind of idea.

CHRIS MATTHEWS: The New York Times yesterday said there's seven races now that are toss-ups. And I think that's where we are right now.
A month from now, I think the Democrats win the Senate and the House. It, it's moving clearly in that direction. It's gonna accelerate by election day. I think it's gonna be a big, big night for the Dems.
