Media Research Center President David Bozell joined Larry O’Connor on Salem News Channel’s O’Connor & Company Thursday morning to address the real influence of left-wing media on the public and elections, highlighting the blatant bias of Apple News and Google News.
Bozell explained:
The American people might not trust the media, but that doesn't mean the media doesn't have influence. MRC's @Davidbozell on with @LarryOConnor https://t.co/2v7VPq66Pc

In fact, “Half the country, 48% of the country, gets their news from one of the following three places: Apple News, Google News, and MSN…” and that is significant, Bozell detailed. He went on to share that these networks are baked into the software of almost every iPhone, Android or desktop, respectively, which becomes a problem when they show clear bias toward one political party.
Bozell remarked on the impact of large media organizations that favor one stream of thought:
“We'll get into some of the headlines … that we've tallied, but when you have this cascading negativity against the administration and Republicans, [it is] very, very difficult to push back against.”
O’Connor agreed, pointing out that the public is “getting a lot of garbage” and “off-the-wall” information from the legacy media. He praised Bozell’s team at the MRC for effectively exposing “the flaws and the deception and the bias in … The New York Times, ABC, CBS, CNN, etc.”
Bozell dove into some of the MRC’s findings that present direct examples of the media’s glaring bias. These were the tremendous numbers from October alone:
Apple News: 49 negative headlines about Trump, ZERO positive. Google News: 45 negative headlines about Trump, just ONE positive. MRC's @DavidBozell on how these platforms lied to 125 million users before the midterms https://t.co/2KQXFy6Wpk

O’Connor responded to these shocking statistics, stating: “That is obviously deliberate. You can't accidentally do something that obvious...” But Google News wants to hide their intentions under the guise of their algorithm, blaming the slant of the populated articles on user preferences, Bozell indicated. He shared their idea that “the user needs to choose their own adventure,” and the algorithm will supposedly adapt to their searches.
Yet, this is not what happens in reality. Bozell declared:
“I would challenge any and all conservatives to go log on to Google News, and you tell me if that presentation on Google News is a reflection of your values. I doubt it.”
The leftist slant seems to exist regardless of the circumstances, even before these machines have learned their user’s preferences, O’Connor indicated. He shared his own experience, stating: “...I went for over 10 years without having an iPhone. I just got an iPhone, and I was a brand-new user. And my Apple News feed immediately was exactly what you're describing.”
As for Apple News, the evident liberal agenda cannot be blamed on algorithms or user searches. Bozell revealed that “Apple is human curated,” and continued by exposing its editor-in-chief, who is “a former deputy editor of New York Magazine.” Apparently, Apple is unabashedly “pure, left-wing drivel,” Bozell stated.
At the end of the day, “Voters … are on these apps routinely, with regularity, and we've got to make the presentation to them that what they're getting is not reflective of their values,” Bozell explained.
O’Connor closed by crediting Bozell and the Media Research Center, stating: “your organization has been built for this. … You've made this shift to the big tech focus, several years before any of us were really seeing what was going on. … You fight the next fight and MRC … is perfectly poised to do it.”
