Katy Tur Upset Over Trump ‘Flanked By Stern White Military Men’ During Iran Speech

January 8th, 2020 3:49 PM

In a truly bizarre attempt to be woke – even by liberal media standards – at the top of her 2:00 p.m. ET hour show on Wednesday, MSNBC anchor Katy Tur bitterly complained about President Trump being “flanked by stern white military men” during his White House address to nation regarding Iran earlier in the day.

“We are asking once again, where is the evidence?,” Tur whined in response to the President’s description of Iranian terrorist Qasem Soleimani as an imminent threat to the United States. She then oddly decided to comment on the race and gender of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who stood behind Trump during his speech: “Flanked by stern white military men, the President addressed the world this morning, following Iran’s attack on military bases housing American soldiers last night.”

Responding to similar attacks on Twitter, Pentagon press secretary Alyssa Farah hammered critics and provided a fact check:

Tur never explained what the race or gender of U.S. military leaders had to do with anything, but she proceeded to rant about Trump taking Iran to task:

He began not by saying good morning, but by demanding Iran must not be allowed to have a nuclear weapon. He once again asserted, without evidence, that Qasem Soleimani was planning an attack on American lives, an imminent attack. And he also called on NATO to intervene in the Middle East. He called for the international community to abandon the Iran nuclear deal. He blamed the Obama administration for the recent attacks. But he also appeared to back away from any further military conflict.

Continuing to assert that the administration could not be trusted, Tur declared: “And considering the President walked us right up to the precipice of yet another war in the Middle East, the American people deserve to see that evidence as well, if it exists.”

The desire by left-wing news anchors to shoe-horn race and gender into every conceivable issue, even life and death national security matters, is a disturbing trend that only works to undermine the work of dedicated public servants.

Here is a transcript of Tur’s January 8 show open:

KATY TUR: We are asking once again, where is the evidence? He once again asserted, without evidence, that Qasem Soleimani was planning an attack on American lives, an imminent attack. And he also called on NATO to intervene in the Middle East. TUR: The situation is far from resolved. The future of our relationship with Iran and that region is still in question. President Trump created this most recent conflict when he ordered the assassination of Soleimani. And the entire incident calls into question whether the President would do something similar again.

This hour on Capitol Hill, lawmakers are set to receive a briefing on the killing of Qasem Soleimani. The classified update will likely contain whatever evidence the administration is using to justify the attack. And considering the President walked us right up to the precipice of yet another war in the Middle East, the American people deserve to see that evidence as well, if it exists.
