'View' Slams GOP 'Enemies' Allowed at Inauguration; Say Republicans Who Criticize Biden Don't Want Unity!

January 21st, 2021 2:10 PM

The View started off Thursday praising President Biden’s inaugural address yesterday afternoon, but also doing the usual Republican bashing the liberal hosts are known for; ironically between praising Biden for wanting to “unite the country.”

Whoopi Goldberg started off the show praising Biden’s address: “It was like dad coming in and saying, ‘you kids, you have to treat each other better!’” she gushed.

Moving from one cringey comment to another about the newly instated president, Joy Behar crassly joked, “I loved being had in the morning by Joe Biden.” She immediately pivoted to marveling over how the earth had “cleansed this country” of Trump:

"It was interesting as Trump's plane was taking off, it started to snow exactly at that moment where I am, and it was almost like the Earth was being cleansed of this putridity," she stated.

After venting that she had PTSD from expecting something bad to happen yesterday, she complained that Senator Ted Cruz [R-TX] was allowed to go to the inauguration:

“How did Ted Cruz ever get in there? I would like to know, did he come in under Lady Gaga's skirt? These are the questions I have today. So what was he doing there? Why are these enemies there?” she demanded.

After Meghan McCain scolded the left for insisting on dividing the country by calling Republicans the enemy, Behar took her comment and doubled down:

Yeah. I just wanted to say that Ted Cruz was one of the people who encouraged the insurrection on the Capitol. I consider him an enemy. I don't necessarily consider Mitch McConnell an enemy even though I think he's a political enemy. I think that Cruz and Hawley are enemies of this country, that they are encouraging insurrections, violence. People died at the Capitol. Yes, Ted Cruz is an enemy right now, of this country. I don't take it back.

Sunny Hostin also bashed Sen. Cruz and Sen. Marsha Blackburn [R-TN] for tweeting negatively about Biden’s executive orders. Apparently they didn't get the memo-- you aren’t allowed to criticize this administration's policies!

What I was so dismayed by was the reaction that I saw on social media from people like Ted Cruz, like Marsha Blackburn. I mean, Ted Cruz just as recently as yesterday was tweeting, 'President Biden's immigration executive orders illustrate that today's Democratic party puts people here illegally.' Then Ted Cruz again, 'the Paris climate agreement paints Biden as more interested in the citizens of Paris than more interested in the jobs of the citizens of Pittsburgh.' I mean, when we're talking about unity, where is the unity on the same day that we have President Biden inaugurated from the Republican party? From leaders -- supposed leaders like a Ted Cruz?

After slamming Blackburn for tweeting that Trump stood by police officers, Hostin ranted it was Republicans who didn't want unity---because they dared to criticize Biden's divisive rollbacks of Trump administration policies.

I'm saddened by the fact that it seems like the Republicans who enabled an autocrat, one of the worst presidents in our history, are continuing to do the same on, you know, with this president when so many of us see a new day coming. They seem to not see the same thing and not want that type of unity. So I'm hopeful that they'll change their ways. I remain hopeful, but I do think that President Biden will be a uniter.

Later, talking about their Biden administration wish list items, Joy Behar gushed she was relieved her grandson would be able to “drink water and breathe air” with Biden re-joining the Paris Climate accord. “This man, this Trump, he made it his business for four years to rape this country. It's disgusting, and I'm so happy to have somebody who cares about the children back.”

JOY BEHAR: I loved being had in the morning by Joe Biden. How do I feel? I have all sorts of feelings around this to tell you the truth. It was interesting as Trump's plane was taking off, it started to snow exactly at that moment where I am, and it was almost like the Earth was being cleansed of this putridity. Whatever that word--I don't know if that's a real word. I just made it up, but, you know, when you are walking in the street in New York City, and you're afraid an air conditioner is going to fall on your head, and it doesn't. That's how I felt yesterday. Like an air conditioner could have fell on my head, and I didn't fall on the heads of Americans. So that's one thing.

WHOOPI: Gotcha.

BEHAR: I have a little bit of PTSD today. I don't feel exhilarated exactly. I had to turn from the festivities and watch something I'm watching like "Outlander" which has a lot of soft porn in it if you catch my drift, and then the other thing I would like to know, how did Ted Cruz get in there? Did he come in underneath Lady Gaga's skirt? These are the questions I have today. What is he doing there? Why are these enemies there? The whole thing was beautiful. I loved the poet. I loved Joe. I loved the three presidents talking and making sense.

WHOOPI: Right.

BEHAR: It was like we had been kidnapped by some crazy family for four years and our parents have come to pick us up and you say to them, 'where were you all these years?'

...

BEHAR: Yeah.

SUNNY HOSTIN: I think that's why so many people, 81 million people voted for him, because we needed a uniter, instead of a divider like President Trump, but I will say this. Marsha Blackburn is tweeting, 'President Trump stood with a thin blue line every single day.'
Except for the fact that he enraged and emboldened a mob that stormed the Capitol and then led to the death of a police officer. So I just -- I'm saddened by the fact that it seems like the Republicans who enabled an autocrat, one of the worst presidents in our history, are continuing to do the same on, you know, with this president when so many of us see a new day coming. They seem to not see the same thing and not want that type of unity. So I'm hopeful that they'll change their ways. I remain hopeful, but I do think that President Biden will be a uniter.
