Writer Rips Romney for 'Obama/Osama' Gaffes; Makes Same in Article

Earlier this week saw Mediaite's Tommy Christopher hilariously see "racism" in a Romney campaign banner and witnessed  Christopher referring to himself in the third person throughout an article about ... himself. But perhaps the highlight is an unintentionally guffaw-inducing line in this story. In it, Christopher makes a big deal out of past Mitt Romney gaffes where he momentarily confused "Obama" with "Osama (bin Laden)" (but in which Romney had immediately corrected himself). The problem is, in the very same column, Christopher does just this himself. To make things worse, Christopher (or his editors at Mediaite), after a few hours, edited Christopher's "Romney-like" gaffe without noting the correction. But no matter -- we have a screen capture. Here's the original paragraph as it appeared:

Buzzfeed‘s Andrew Kaczynski has dug up a rather inconvenient photo from Mitt Romney‘s last presidential campaign, in which he poses with a sign that says “Say No To Obama, Osama, and Chelsea’s Moma (no, Chelsea Clinton does not own a Museum Of Modern Art, that’s just how these people spell),” which the candidate laughed off as a “joke” in July of 2007. That, and the video we found of Romney “confusing” then-Sen. Barack Obama with Osama bin Laden, are embarrassing on a number of levels, not the least of which is the number that Obama and Chelsea’s mama did on Osama, a move Romney said he wouldn’t have made in 2007. It’s been a campaign of ruff optics so far, and while the sight of Romney posing with a nasty sign like that probably pleases the conservative base he so wants to excite, it serves only to remind other voters that President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were sitting front-row when Seal Team Six punched bin Laden’s ticket. Ditto this clip from 2007, in which Romney “confuses” Osama bin Laden with the now-fish-feeding terrorist

The last line, as noted, has since been edited to read "Barack Obama" where there was "Osama bin Laden." But here is that screen capture I mentioned:

Two words, Mr. Christopher: Hoisted. Petard.
