Historically Ignorant Behar: GOP Afraid of 'Slavery,' Wants Country Back in 'the 1850s'

Noted non-expert of science Joy Behar on Thursday went on one of her unhinged rants, accusing the Republican Party of “politically maneuvering against science" and wanting to send the country back to the1850s. The liberal ladies of the panel discussed Tennessee halting vaccine outreach to minors. Tennessee recently halted vaccine outreach to minors, not just COVID19 vaccines, but others as well. This resulted in many people having a variety of opinions, including The View.

According to Joy Behar, the Republican Party is driving the country back to the Dark Ages.

“I know that Republicans are nostalgic for the '50s, I didn't know it was the 1850s,” said Behar when asked about her opinion on Tennessee’s decision. “I mean; we are entering what I see as a new version of the dark ages thanks to the new Republican Party. I believe that. They don't want our kids to get vaccinated. By the way, they're all getting vaccinated.”

She continued in her rant, and accused the Republican Party of “politically maneuvering against science."

“They lie about the vaccine,” said Behar. “They put out false information about the vaccine. They want to roll back voting rights despite no evidence of fraud. They're afraid of history, especially when it comes to slavery. They deny climate change even though we're up to 135 degrees in some -- Fahrenheit in some parts of this country. They insist on lying about the election. They called the insurrection at the Capitol a tourism event. The party is driving our country into the dark ages, right back to some kind of Neanderthal period, and I am worried about it. Very, very worried. This is another example of this type of political maneuvering against science.”

Republicans want to take the country back to the 1850s? They're afraid of slavery? Maybe the ignorant Behar doesn't know that the GOP was the party of abolition and the Democrats were the party of slavery. But then, Behar's co-host, Whoopi Goldberg, once asked then-presidential candidate John McCain if he would bring back slavery.

This segment trended on Twitter, resulting in more people discussing vaccine outreach and people being nasty to each other.

JOY BEHAR: JOY BEHAR: Well, it's just -- yeah. It's all political, and I know that Republicans are nostalgic for the '50s, I didn't know it was the 1850s. I mean, we are entering what I see as a new version of the dark ages thanks to the new Republican Party. I believe that. They don't want our kids to get vaccinated. By the way, they're all getting vaccinated. Everybody on Fox has been vaccinated you can be sure. Donald Trump has. They lie about the vaccine. They put out false information about the vaccine.
