In one fell swoop, Howard Dean has managed to expose his ignorance of libertarianism while making a stale and insulting joke about New Jerseyites.

Discussing on today's Morning Joe the dust-up between Rand Paul and Chris Christie and the broader issue of the philosophical rifts within the GOP, Dean declared that "Rand Paul is not a libertarian" because he is pro-life.  Dean is apparently unaware of the lively debate over abortion within libertarian circles, with a reported 30% of libertarians being pro-life.  Dean also warned Paul: "do not take on a guy from Jersey. Obviously this guy does not watch HBO." That was presumably an allusion to The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire, two HBO shows featuring Garden State criminals.  View the video after the jump.

MSNBC’s newest weekend host is also a former communications director for the Democratic National Committee (DNC). Sometimes, though, it’s hard to tell if Karen Finney ever left the DNC.

Finney spent several minutes touting the benefits of ObamaCare on Sunday’s Disrupt, excitedly holding up a rebate she received from her health insurance provider, gushing: “I got a check.”  As President Obama explained in a Thursday speech at the White House, individuals can receive a rebate check from their insurance provider if the insurer spends less than 80 percent of their customers’s premiums on health care. Appearing on CNBC’s “Kudlow Report” with Larry Kudlow, former Democratic Party presidential candidate and DNC chair Howard Dean dismissed the controversy surrounding the Benghazi terror attack as “ridiculous” and a “laughable joke,” The Blaze reported Tuesday.

“This is about issues that are important to the American people,” said RNC communications director Sean Spicer.

The sole political guest on Friday's CBS This Morning was Howard Dean, the ultraliberal failed presidential contender who was once the governor of Vermont.  Co-host Norah O'Donnell asked him to comment on the vice president's statement on Thursday insisting the Democrats absolutely want to raise a trillion dollars in taxes on the rich.

Biden had "some comments that people are calling a gaffe, where he said Obama and Biden want to raise taxes by a trillion dollars," she said. "Well guess what, yes we do. Is that the right kind of message?" O'Donnell ignored that the actual 'gaffe' was that Biden strangely insisted it wasn't a "tax raise."

In response, Dean blamed the majority of the media for its incessant criticism and constant "hand wringing" when the president fails to live up to expectations or when the vice president says something inane.
