Appearing on CNN Newsroom with Poppy Harlow on Sunday evening, liberal CNN contributor and Morehouse College Professor Marc Lamont Hill asserted that it was "stupid" for former Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley to declare that "All lives matter" during a far left Netroots Nation event over the weekend.

Hill went on to compare the Maryland Democrat's comments to declaring that "all houses matter" when there is only one house on fire that needs immediate attention.

In Phoenix this weekend, "Black Lives Matter" disruptors crashed the "Netroots" convention, an event the Associated Press described as a gathering of "some of the party's most influential liberal activists."

On ABC's This Week yesterday Bill Kristol had the temerity to mention some of the details of the chaos. Show host Martha Raddatz changed the subject faster than you can say "deeply divided Democrats."

On Sunday’s Inside Politics, Daily Beast reporter Jackie Kucinich, formerly with USA Today and the Washington Post, criticized former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley from the left after he told a group of liberal activists in Arizona over the weekend: “Black lives matter, white lives matter, all lives matter.” Kucinich quickly blasted O’Malley for “saying all lives matter, particularly when you're talking about this movement, is just tone deaf, it misses the point.”

In a Thursday item on NBC News's web site, Chuck Todd, Mark Murray, and Andrew Rafferty asserted that "just like the issue of gay marriage, the Pope and the Catholic Church have gone from being wedge issues that benefitted the GOP in 2004 to ones that now favor Democrats." The three journalists cited Associated Press's reporting on Pope Francis's new encyclical on the environment, and concluded that "what this news does is guarantee that climate change is a conversation in GOP presidential debates, especially since several of the candidates...are Catholic."

"If O'Malley doesn't win the [Democratic] nomination, he will at least have raised his profile for another run in four or eight years. By then, maybe he can find a better platform to run on than the one he has now."

Some pundits have speculated that the Baltimore riots may benefit Republicans in next year’s elections. On the other hand, Walsh, of Salon and MSNBC, thinks that the unrest has yielded an opportunity for liberalism.

In a two-part series, Walsh argued that one lesson of Baltimore is that Democrats' Bill Clintonesque center-left “approach to race, crime and inequality” has proved inadequate, and that the party now must confront “the big structural issues driving poverty and rising inequality, not the behavior of the poor.” Meanwhile, sniped Walsh, when it comes to those problems the GOP is “still race baiting” and “still stuck in the 1980s.”

During an exclusive interview with former Baltimore Mayor and Maryland Democratic Governor Martin O’Malley on Thursday’s edition of The Lead on CNN, host Jake Tapper asked the possible presidential candidate for what he thinks of “conservatives who say, this shows that liberal policies are failing urban America.” In addition to discussing the protests and rioting in Baltimore and what was then known about the investigation into the death of Freddie Gray, Tapper shifted to discussing his record as mayor in context of what’s taken place over the last week in the Charm City.

At the Washington Post early Tuesday morning, Michelle Ye Hee Lee vetted a statement frequently made by former Baltimore Mayor Martin O'Malley, a Democrat and possible 2016 presidential contender, about reductions in crime on his watch.

Ms. Lee must have been in a hermetically sealed cave during the previous two days, because her sole justification for conducting the fact check was the protesting taking place against "the police-custody death of Freddie Gray," despite the fact that Baltimore's "mass riots" began Saturday night.

While Beltway insiders think Hillary Clinton has the Democratic presidential nomination all squared away, some have tried to build a buzz arond former Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley as a challenger.

In Iowa, a college newspaper tried to sell O'Malley as a "new JFK." Don't they do that a lot with Democrats?

Prospective 2016 Democratic presidential contender Gov. Martin O'Malley decided to close out 2014 with an announcement that he would be commuting the death sentences of four Maryland death-row inmates who were in a virtual state of limbo -- eligible for execution but unable to be executed due to the state lacking an appropriate protocol for lethal injections.

Reporting the story in the January 1, 2015 edition, Washington Post staffer John Wagner front-loaded the article with praise for "practicing Catholic" O'Malley's, waiting until the eighth paragraph for the first mention of criticism of the move.

In yet another instance of the Washington Post shielding the Maryland Democratic political establishment, including the party's nominee for governor, editors buried on page B4 of the Saturday, August 30 edition a stunning story about outgoing Gov. Martin O'Malley's refusal to cooperate with federal immigration officials to eventually deport illegal immigrants who have served time behind bars.

"Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley has instructed a state-run jail in Baltimore to stop honoring federal requests to detain inmates beyond their scheduled release dates in order to explore potential immigration violations, unless there is probable cause that those who are being held have broken the law," staff writer John Wagner noted in the lead paragraph for his article headlined "O’Malley tells jail to curtail immigrant detentions."

The ObamaCare health care exchange website that Maryland designed is such a monstrous failure that the state government is pulling its plug tomorrow and replacing it with a website which essentially mimics the architecture of the actually-functional Connecticut state exchange. In the process, Maryland taxpayers have seen $125.5 million of their hard-earned tax dollars flushed down the drain by 2016 president hopeful Gov. Martin O'Malley (D) and his protege, Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown, whom O'Malley tapped as his ObamaCare point man, and who is pursuing the Democratic nomination for governor this June.

Curiously neither politician was scrutinized in Jenna Johnson and Mary Pat Flaherty's March 31 Metro section front-pager "Md. to rebuild sit from scratch," and there was only a passing reference to them in an earlier story over the weekend by the same reporters.
