Roe v. Wade was horribly decided, as even some prominent supporters of abortion rights will agree.  But for now, it remains the law of the land.  And it establishes a constitutional right to abortion.  Amazingly, Thomas Roberts appears unaware of that.

On today's Morning Joe, commenting on Mike Huckabee's speech of yesterday on how Dems wrongly accuse Republicans of a "war on women,"  Roberts twice said "if old white men could get pregnant, abortion would be a constitutional right."  View the video after the jump.

Where is Willie Geist when we need him?  Thomas Roberts—who has replaced Brian Schachtman as Way Too Early host—is seemingly also taking over much of Geist's turf as Morning Joe sidekick.

And whereas Geist was, at least in the MSNBC context, a voice of affable equanimity, Roberts is an unabashed liberal advocate.  Witness today's Morning Joe. Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski questioned the character of Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer. Joe and Mika wondered how, after assertedly writing in her personal diary that Chris Christie's corrupt nature "literally brings tears to my eyes," Zimmer could then take to Twitter to paradoxically proclaim that she was "very glad" that Christie was governor and that he has "done a great job for NJ & Hoboken."  Rising to the defense of the Dem mayor, Roberts accused Joe and Mika of "eviscerating" Zimmer, whom Roberts described as a "whistle-blower." MSNBC’s Irin Carmon -- the New York Abortion Access Fund's 2013 Champion for Choice award winner-- never hesitates in showing her support for “reproductive rights.” Whether it be in the newly established MSNBC.com website or on the airwaves of MSNBC, Carmon bemoans any attempts made by state legislatures to make abortion clinics safer through health department regulation.

It should come as no surprise then that a January 6 piece by Ms. Carmon -- and her subsequent appearance alongside MSNBC host Thomas Roberts during his 11 a.m. Eastern program -- would strike a similar tone to her previous work on the subject of abortion. Carmon began her story by huffing that:

The constitutionality of two of Texas’s abortion restrictions is being debated in a federal appeals court here. But for Texans seeking abortions, the full weight of the law, most of which is already in force, is anything but theoretical.

Ever since Phil Robertson of “Duck Dynasty” gave an interview with GQ Magazine discussing his views on gay marriage, the folks at MSNBC have been on a tirade against the reality TV star with contributors to the “Lean Forward” network going so far as to say Robertson’s comments are “part of majority white supremacist culture.”

MSNBC’s latest attempt to vilify the “Duck Dynasty” family came during a January 3 segment with host Thomas Roberts, where he and guest Ladd Everitt of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence tried to vilify the family for teaming up with Mossberg to design and sell their own line of firearms. After railing against Phil Robertson for his past comments, Roberts then pushed Mr. Everitt to promote his organization’s anti-gun efforts:

So this family earned $200,000 per episode that season and they represent and they speak to a large swath of the country. Primarily the stereotype almost that you just pointed out. But how do you try to combat that?

MSNBC president Phil Griffin announced this morning that 11 a.m. anchor Thomas Roberts would be getting a new year's promotion... to the 5:30 a.m. Eastern program, Way Too Early, the lead-in to Morning Joe. Roberts will vacate his present MSNBC Live gig but also be awarded a regular contributor slot on the Morning Joe panel.

“This is a very exciting opportunity and right in line with my career goals and aspirations,” Roberts was quoted in an MSNBC.com story, adding:

There are a lot of things that MSNBC claims that the GOP is engaged in a “war” on. Whether it’s a “war on women” or a “war on voting,” the folks at MSNBC can’t seem to go a day without finding something to smear conservatives.

Take Thomas Roberts on December 30, who during his 11:00 a.m. show announced “The biggest blow to voting rights this year was the Supreme Court's decision striking down a key piece of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.” In typical fashion, he brought on two liberal guests to slam the GOP over the MSNBC-labeled “war on voting” -- Ben Jealous, former head of the NAACP, and Mark Morial, the president of the National Urban League. The guests doubled down on the MSNBC line.

MSNBC seems to really hate Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) as it has reached new lows to smear the Tea Party senator. Tired of using their usual attacks on the junior senator from Texas, the folks at the network have resorted to a new tactic, openly lying about his record on anti-Obama conspiracy theories.

Appearing as a fill-in host on Morning Joe on December 30, MSNBC host Thomas Roberts claimed Ted Cruz was a birther, “Ted Cruz was certainly big on the birther movement.” Most of the time, liberals merely joke that Cruz's birth in Canada to an American mother ties the birthers in knots. Today’s installment of the Media Research Center’s “Best Notable Quotables of 2013,” as selected by our 42 expert judges: the “Let Them Eat Dog Food Award, for Freaking Out Over the Sequester’s Puny Cuts,” and “The Kamikaze Award, for Disparaging Conservatives During the Shutdown.

In late February, as automatic spending cuts were about to take a tiny sliver off of the $3.5 trillion annual federal budget, reporters mindlessly parroted the Obama administration's doomsaying about the consequences. Then in October, when conservatives attempted to block the implementation of the dysfunctional ObamaCare law, journalists blasted them as lunatic terrorists out to destroy America. (This year’s winners and videos below the jump.)

Once again, the folks at MSNBC have whitewashed the bloody history of a Communist dictator in order to provide political cover for President Obama. Following video of President Obama shaking hands with Cuban dictator Raul Castro at Nelson Mandela’s funeral, the folks at the Lean Forward network jumped to President Obama’s defense.

Appearing on his daily MSNBC show on December 11, host Thomas Roberts mocked the controversy over the handshake while calling Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-Texas) decision to walk out during Raul Castro’s speech a “a stunt to make some attention and some news about himself." Cruz, is the son of a Cuban immigrant and doubtless found the notion of Raul Castro speaking deeply offensive.

It’s becoming clearer every day that the liberal hosts at MSNBC have no interest in giving conservatives a fair shake on their network. Time and time again, MSNBC hosts such as Thomas Roberts proudly slander Republicans of engaging in hateful acts such as a “war on women” or a “war on voting.”

With such hostility towards conservatives at the network, it makes you wonder sometimes why any conservative would want to come on and be verbally accosted by the liberal activists disguised as journalists, such as Thomas Roberts, who did his best to put Orlando Watson through the ringer.

Leave it to MSNBC to see Thanksgiving as a time to be thankful for ObamaCare, Wendy Davis, same-sex marriage, and John Kerry hammering out an interim nuclear deal with Iran.

"In a year where Congress’ approval rating has reached an all time low, an embattled President Obama faces the healthcare challenge that could define his legacy, and the timetable for US troops in Afghanistan remains murky, it is all too easy to become cynical about the public sphere," MSNBC.com writers Johnny Simon and Farra Kober confessed in a piece published this morning. "But when members of the msnbc family paused to reflect, what they recalled was a year full of triumph and spirit," they noted in the lead paragraph of their November 26 "Why I'm thankful" slideshow feature.

The Lean Forward network took a half-hearted stab at being fair and balanced on Tuesday. During the 11 a.m. hour, Thomas Roberts invited on two women to discuss the vote to ban abortions after 20 weeks in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Representing the obvious pro-abortion side was frequent MSNBC contributor Irin Carmon.

Representing what Roberts called “the church side” was Sara Hutchinson of, wait for it... Catholics for Choice, a pro-choice lobby group. [See video below. MP3 audio here.]
