On Sunday's Fareed Zakaria GPS on CNN, host Zakaria suggested that it would be a "mistake" for the West to make a "swift and violent response" to the Paris terrorist attacks because doing so "further stokes the fires of jihad." He plugged an upcoming segment: "Coming up, it's an all too familiar pattern. A well-planned attack on the West, followed by a swift and violent response that further stokes the fires of jihad. Will the West make these mistakes again? That's next on GPS."

Last night at dinner a relative from NYC who described himself as a "bleeding heart liberal" opposed cutting off the immigration of Syrian refugees because in his view that would run counter to American traditions. He's a great guy, but that is a dangerous misinterpretation. We have no obligation to commit collective suicide.
What's more troubling is that supposed experts on the subject are voicing similar views. On today's State of the Union with Jake Tapper, Shadi Hamid of the Brookings Institution actually surmised that the Paris killer who made it into Europe was probably the only terrorist among the hundreds of thousands of refugees. "There's perhaps one refugee that was part of this out of hundreds of thousands. That's kind of a collective punishment, if you say, well, we're going to try to stop all refugees from coming in because of one person."

Appearing as a panel member on Friday's Real Time with Bill Maher, comedian Jay Leno compared GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump to Adolf HItler as the group discussed Trump's talk of requiring all illegal immigrants to leave the country before being considered for reentry.

On Friday's PBS Newshour, during the regular "Shields and Brooks" segment, the trio of Judy Woodruff, liberal Mark Shields and right-leaning Michael Gerson sitting in for David Brooks all suggested that, because of all the talk of deporting illegal immigrants, only a "moderate Republican" will be able to win the presidency for the GOP, and will need to "repudiate the idea of mass deportations."

In an interview with House Speaker Paul Ryan for 60 Minutes, CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley scolded the congressman for criticizing President Obama’s unconstitutional executive action on illegal immigration: “On your first day as speaker you said you were going to wipe the slate clean. And then in your very first news conference you said the President has, quote, ‘Proven himself untrustworthy on immigration.’ That’s not wiping the slate clean, that’s blowing chalk dust in the President's face.”

Veteran MSNBC watchers have surely noticed the Obama-loving network's extreme hostility to black Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson. These attacks and the pressure against Carson, compared to other Republicans in the race, has been intense. As a black conservative, Dr. Carson has taken extreme criticism and scrutiny for his words.

On Wednesday, all three network morning shows interviewed Florida Senator Marco Rubio following Tuesday’s Republican presidential debate and grilled him on GOP opposition to illegal immigration. On NBC’s Today, co-host Savannah Guthrie proclaimed: “One of the most heated exchanges...came over immigration, and Trump's vow to deport 11 million illegal immigrants. Some on the stage suggested that is a gift to Democrats....I asked him if he agreed that his party’s handling of that issue is alienating the Latino voters.”

Following his lambasting of the liberal media and the CNBC moderators during the last Republican debate on October 28, Republican Senator Ted Cruz took his latest swipe at the “mainstream media” in Tuesday’s Fox Business Network event for their coverage of illegal immigration and maligning those opposing amnesty. Cruz started his takedown by first pointing out that “when the mainstream media covers immigration, it doesn't often see it as an economic issue.”
