If the founder of The Weather Channel spoke out strongly against the manmade global warming myth, might media members notice?
We're going to find out the answer to that question soon, for John Coleman wrote an article published at ICECAP Wednesday that should certainly garner attention from press members -- assuming journalism hasn't been completely replaced by propagandist activism, that is.
Coleman marvelously began (emphasis added, h/t NB reader coffee250):
It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM. Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data to create in [sic] allusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental whacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the "research" to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus.
Environmental extremists, notable politicians among them, then teamed up with movie, media and other liberal, environmentalist journalists to create this wild "scientific" scenario of the civilization threatening environmental consequences from Global Warming unless we adhere to their radical agenda. Now their ridiculous manipulated science has been accepted as fact and become a cornerstone issue for CNN, CBS, NBC, the Democratic Political Party, the Governor of California, school teachers and, in many cases, well informed but very gullible environmental conscientious citizens. Only one reporter at ABC has been allowed to counter the Global Warming frenzy with one 15 minutes documentary segment.
[...]
I have read dozens of scientific papers. I have talked with numerous scientists. I have studied. I have thought about it. I know I am correct. There is no run away climate change. The impact of humans on climate is not catastrophic. Our planet is not in peril. I am incensed by the incredible media glamour, the politically correct silliness and rude dismissal of counter arguments by the high priest of Global Warming.
In time, a decade or two, the outrageous scam will be obvious.
Let's hope so, John; let's hope so.

My new hero
November 7, 2007 - 19:05 ET by nkviking75I have a new hero. May your tribe increase, Mr. Coleman. It must gall him that TWC has sold out to this stupid fantasy, even devoting a weekly show to pushing Global Warming.
FYI, here's his bio from KUSI-TV in San Diego, where he holds his "retirement job".
When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out.

November 7, 2007 - 19:29 ET by acumenIt must gall him that TWC has sold out to this stupid fantasy, even devoting a weekly show to pushing Global Warming.
"The Weather Channel on cable. That's my baby", Coleman says. "The bad guys took it away from me, but they can't steal the fact that it was my idea and I started it and ran it for the first year. I put everything I had into making TWC the success it is."
Coleman was also the weatherman on ABC's Good Morning America for seven years. It will be interesting to see if Mr. Coleman's former employer GMA/ABC pick up this story about Coleman's distancing himself from any supposed "climate crisis." I'm betting they won't - The "bad guys" have taken over that operation as well.
John Coleman makes a mistake
November 7, 2007 - 19:11 ET by Lame CherryMr. Coleman makes a mistake in not considering the sun is in a state of fluctuation. While he is correct on the scam of global warming being exposed as a fraud, the sun in this period is destined to do what yellow dwarf stars do as our's is destined to do in literally scorching the earth.
There is a reason the Bible predicts in Revelation of Jesus the Christ that people are in "caves" and the sun is scorching people.
Now the Bible was written 2000 years ago in the last chapter approximately and yet it explains completely a yellow dwarf event which scientists see throughout the galaxy.
People will survive, but even Mr. Coleman has to take into all considerations and assist that America needs to implement a policy of taking global warming scam funds and using them as grants for homeowners to build and stock shelters........not just for the weather, but while we petered away 2 decades the Russians have been building huge underground cities for a nuclear war they are preparing for.
This building program would help the American economy immensely and spare allot of hardship. It is the prudent thing to do now that the scam is being defeated and we prepare for the next power grab of the globalists "using food shortage scam from bio fuels and water shortages".

November 8, 2007 - 10:35 ET by misterbee241You make a very good point, Lame Cherry. I was reading an editorial by Joseph Farah on World Net Daily yesterday, and he made the point that if man made global warming was real, the Bible, especially the OT would have addressed it. Just about all of the prophecies in the OT have come to pass, but no mention is made of global warming.
As for me, 2nd Peter says the earth and the heavens will all burn up including the things that hold them together but it wont be from greenhouse gasses.
I think in our arrogance we have returned to the Tower of Babel, that we think we can turn back the weather to our liking.
I agree that GW is a scam, and when the Next Big Thing comes along funding will dry up and GW will be history.

November 7, 2007 - 21:39 ET by rx4musicI've been watching John here in San Diego for the last ten years or so and he is the best. Other "weathermen" pale in comparison. John is a bonafide meteoroligist and is one of the most adept at using his "super computer" to make his forecasts (which are amazingly accurate!). The station he is on (KUSI- emphasis is John's! you'd have to hear him say it...) is an independent (no more networks for John!) and he pretty much has the run of the place. He is the one everyone in San Diego was watching during the fires here a couple weeks ago and he was dead on about when the Santa Ana winds would end. I value his forecasts more than any other here in San Diego and now I have even more reason to call him my favorite!

ICECAP and John Coleman are a puzzle
November 8, 2007 - 10:57 ET by BlindSightIf they so disagree with the climate change science, then why don`t they take it up with their own American Metreological Society first - are they calling all of their colleagues who disagree with them "dastardly" or "environmental whacko" types? The AMS Council in 2003 approved a long statement that included the following: http://www.ametsoc.o...
Besides taking it up with the AMS, and all of the scientists from the US and elsewhere who contribute to the IPCC, it`s not clear what it is that Coleman is saying - that climate change is a "scam" by a huge array of wacko or evil scientists, their friends in government, eEnvironmental extremists, notable politicians, movie, media and other liberal, environmentalist journalists who have created a wild “scientific” scenario of the civilization threatening environmental consequences from Global Warming unless we adhere to their radical agenda? If so, where can we find any documents outlining the scam? There are plenty of Republicans (didn`t Bush`s Dad start all this?), leading corporations, evangelicals etc in on this - so there`s got to be something somewhere spelling out the goals, benefits and marching orders, right? A scam this big ought to be pretty leaky. I am especially curious as to what the "radical agenda" of all these diverse parties is. Next, how did these scammers manage to convince almost all of our other allies to go along? Twist their arms, buy them off? Corrupt all of their scientists with fake research jobs from our budget? And, finally, how did they manage to turn Pres. Bush and his science adviser? Pres. George Bush: "Our guiding principle is clear. We must lead the world to produce fewer greenhouse gas emissions and we must do it in a way that does not undermine economic growth or prevent nations from delivering greater prosperity for their people."

Right?
Pres. George Bush: Our guiding principle is clear. We must lead the world to produce fewer greenhouse gas emissions and we must do it in a way that does not undermine economic growth or prevent nations from delivering greater prosperity for their people.
Here's a "Must Read"
November 8, 2007 - 11:15 ET by A-10Read Gary Novak's Perspective on Global Warming. Its one of the best explanations I have ever read. I dare any GW Alarmist to read his Perspective and then say man is causing Global Warming or that we have any effect on Earth's climate.
Among the things he points out are:
Water vapor affects atmospheric temperatures at a much greater rate than CO2 and there is 33 times as much water vapor in the atmosphere as CO2. Where's the call to reduce water vapor emissions?
Major Ice Ages occur about every 100,000 years. On a chart he provides, he shows that we are at the peak of a warming period that followed the last Ice Age. As has happened each and every time we have had an Ice Age, the average temperatures will start to go back down into the next Ice Age. Of course, it will take 10s of thousands of years, but it will happen.
The primary cause for the increase in CO2 is release from the oceans as they warm. The primary cause of the ocean warming is heat radiated from the earth's core. It is believed that there is a "hot spot" in the earth's core than moves around. When it is under the Southern Hemisphere, which has less land mass and more oceans, it causes the oceans to warm.
The Artic Ice Cap melting is not caused by atmospheric warming, but by ocean warming. Since 90% of ocean ice is below the surface, it is impossible for air temperatures to melt the submerged ice. Only warmer ocean temperatures can melt the submerged ice. Neither solar energy or air temperatures have any effect in warming the oceans, as solar radiation only penetrates a few feet into the oceans and air temperatures have virtually no effect on ocean temperatures. As stated above, ocean warming is caused by heating by the earth's core.
To test this fact, try the following experiment. Place a block of ice in a container filled with 33 degree water. Place another block of ice in an empty container in your refrigerator. (which should be at around 35 degrees) Time how long it takes each to melt. The block of ice in the water will melt much faster than that in the fridge. Now do the same experiment in 35 degree water and in your fridge with the temperature set at 38 degrees. (representing rising ocean and air temps) The ice in the water will melt a little faster, but there will be almost no change in the time it take for the ice to melt in the fridge.
His best fact is this: "Notice that humans only add 1% as much CO2 to the atmosphere per year as already in it. If such a miniscule amount were as critical as propagandists claim, all life would have been destroyed long ago. Nature hasn't been sitting on a 1% knife edge for millions of years."
Would this be, by any
November 8, 2007 - 13:09 ET by IamTinmanWould this be, by any chance, the first time you have ever quoted "W" favorably? I thought so!
Actually most of us don't have any problem with the presidents comments since they amount to a committment to remove greenhouse gasses as long as it doesn't cost anything. That's a lot better than ruining the economy and putting my descendents future in the hands of agenda driven eco-nazis.
You don't need much of an organization to promote the global warming scam and the Union of Concerned Scientists and their fellow travelers provide that. What you do need is gullible lemmings who accept without any skepticism that the science is settled when in truth anything based on computer models is purely guesswork unless confirmed by real world data and the AGW proponents haven't been able to do a very good job of that.
Oh, and a host of researchers who are afraid that the government grants that allow them to make a good living would disappear if they didn't predict a looming disaster which of course demands a great deal more study.
As far as other countries, Gullibility is not just an American trait, it's universal.
The earth does not exist in a static condition, it's either warming or cooling all the time. It warms and cools every day, every year, and in other cycles, some of which we don't fully understand yet. Get used to it, you aren't going to change it.
The RCC Had Their Indulgences, Al Gore Has His Carbon Credits
November 13, 2007 - 01:48 ET by paulrevereJust as the Roman Catholic Church sold indulgences to absolve people of their sins during the Dark Ages, so Al Gore sells his carbon credits to absolve companies of their "sins".
