Bozell & Graham Column: Hollywood's Climate Hypocrites

Hollywood and global-warming panic have always been a natural match. After all, who can tell you better to cut back on your wasteful ways better than a high-flying multi-millionaire movie star with the carbon footprint of a Tyrannosaurus Rex?

It's never mattered that the stars have all the scientific expertise of Pee Wee Herman. They're just so good-looking and famous, who cares? PBS broadcast a ten-hour series in 1990 entitled Race to Save the Planet. The show's host was Meryl Streep, who proclaimed: "By the year 2000...the Earth's climate will be warmer than it's been in over 100,000 years. If we don't do something, there will be enormous calamities in a very short time." Oops.

Journalists help promote Hollywood celebrities while condemning average Americans for causing climate change. The same media go out of their way to ignore or excuse the hypocrisy of celebrity “environmentalists” who fly their private jets around the world, rent mega-yachts and live in massive mansions.

Avatar Director James Cameron warned of a future “world that’s in shambles” because of climate change, and said he believes “in ecoterrorism” yet, he owns an impressive private collection of motorcycles, cars, dirt bikes, a yacht, a helicopter, a Humvee fire truck and a $32-million submarine. ABC and CBS even praised Cameron for his submarine purchase, with CBS’s Gayle King saying she loved his “passion and curiosity.”

After almost six years of unrelenting class warfare enthusiastically promoted by President Obama, with all the precision of historic inevitability the rhetoric and policies of the Occupy Wall Street enthusiasts have now rounded on two of the more famous members of the One Percent.

Like every other group of Democratic boot-lickers, NBC stars are moving the eye of their adoration from Obama to the next alleged president, Hillary Clinton. The Washington Post reported Tuesday that NBC late-night star Seth Meyers hosted the opening of the annual Clinton Global Initiative on Sunday night.

“President Clinton is here! And so is Bill!” Meyers joked after Hillary opened the glitzy awards banquet. “Bill grinned and applauded from the audience,” reported the Post.

When you're an acclaimed liberal movie star like Leonardo diCaprio, there's apparently nothing controversial that you can put on film. On the February 16 "Sunday Morning" on CBS, reporter Lee Cowan created an entire interview feature around diCaprio's latest movie "The Wolf of Wall Street" without ever mentioning scenes of orgies or midget tossing, or the more than 500 uses of the F-bomb in the film.

Instead, Cowan merely repeated the movie star's lines back to him about how this controversial film was merely "vibrant and polarizing," the role of a lifetime, with no critics or moral objections:

Inside twisted Tinseltown, Martin Scorsese has marked a new career achievement. His new film "The Wolf of Wall Street" includes a mighty 506 uses of the F-bomb in its three-hour running time. That's almost three curse words a minute.

Someone has proclaimed this the new record for F-bombs. Another Hollywood high mark. Scorsese often has hundreds of F-bombs in his films about crooks. But this takes the cake.

‘Wolf of Wall Street’ Perpetuates Negative Stereotype of Wall Street

Apparently, three movies attacking Wall Street wasn’t enough. Hollywood’s made another anti-capitalist film to be released November 15. The biopic of former Wall Street stockbroker, Jordan Belfort, who is also a conman, stars known liberal actor Leonardo DiCaprio. The “Titanic” star is a well-known environmental activist and has donated more than $40,000 to Obama’s two presidential campaigns.

“The Wolf of Wall Street” is based on a memoir of the same name. In the book, Jordan Belfort described his life as a stockbroker who worked the system to lead a lavish lifestyle filled with sex, drugs and partying before he was jailed for fraud and money laundering. The dark comedy by Martin Scorsese, stars DiCaprio as the sleazy Belfort. The trailer portrays his daily life as glamorous and exciting while at the same time, poking fun at Belfort for his over-the-top lifestyle.

DiCaprio Claims ‘Normal Person Does Not Drive More’ Than 31 Miles a Day

Film star Leonardo DiCaprio seems a bit confused. He recently promised to “fly around the world doing good for the environment,” apparently forgetting it will take a whole lot of fossil fuels to do it, unless he sprouts wings.

He also made the strange claim that a “normal” person drives less than 50 km  (31 miles) a day, a distance which can easily be handled by an electric car. Only, flying has a bigger environmental impact than driving, and “normal” people often drive much longer distances.

"My roof is covered with solar panels. My car is electric. A normal person does not drive more than 50km [31 miles] a day. That can be done with a plug,'' the “Titanic” actor told the German daily Bild, according to the New Zealand Herald.

One of the big stories in filmdom today is about all the concerns surrounding the marketing of Christopher Nolan’s new film “Inception,” which cost a reported $160 million to produce and hits theatres next Friday, July 16th. According to Reuters, awareness isn’t as high as the studio would like, especially in Middle America.

Well, here’s one way to entice Middle America into your film, insult them by having your three main stars hit the promotional circuit and savage Dick Cheney and Sarah Palin as stupid and evil (video below the jump).

Hollywood's Summer Blockbusters Mostly Have White Stars

As media members continue to accuse the Tea Party of being racist due to the supposed lack of minority members, there is a conspicuous absence of diversity in blockbuster movies coming out of Hollywood this summer.

"With the notable exception of 'Karate Kid,' headlined by Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan, most of the big-budget films hitting over the next few months star Caucasian actors," wrote Brent Lang of TheWrap Wednesday.

Leonardo DiCaprio and a list of Hollywood's finest have just released a public service announcement encouraging people to petition Congress to pass the Clean Energy & American Power Act aka cap and trade.

The ad was paid for by the left-leaning NRDC Action Fund, a group whose board of directors includes Ari Emanuel, the brother of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, and John Podesta, Bill Clinton's former Chief of Staff.

Nickelodeon Gives Eco-Activist Leonardo DiCaprio First-Ever 'Big Green Help Award' During Kids' Choice Awards

Leonardo DiCaprioNickelodeon kicked up the "green" factor a notch at this year's Kids' Choice Awards by giving actor Leonardo DiCaprio the network's first Big Green Help award at the March 28 ceremony.

Out with the celebration of mostly kid-friendly entertainment choices and in with eco-warrior propaganda.

DiCaprio, dubbed the "coolest guy on this hot planet" by presenter Cameron Diaz, used boilerplate fear-mongering in his acceptance speech to recruit more kids to his environmentalist cause:

I want to take a moment and ask you kids something. Do you like this planet that we live on? Is this an awesome place to live or what? I've got news for you. It's the only home we have, and right now, our mother, our mother, all of our mothers, mother earth, is hurting. And she needs a generation of thoughtful, caring and active kids like all of you, to protect her for the future.
