Teasing his softball interview with Sen. Claire McCaskill, MSNBC Hardball host Chris Matthews hailed as "gutsy" the Missouri Democrat's coming out today to endorse President Obama's nuclear deal with Iran. Missouri's nickname is the "Show-Me State," yet nowhere in his interview did Matthews ask McCaskill about the logic of jumping on board a nuclear deal by which, as NBC's own Andrea Mitchell reported, the International Atomic Energy Agency will allow the Islamic Republic to self-inspect a military installation.

This week, with the nation’s largest abortion provider under fire for allegedly selling baby body parts for profit, CNN’s on-air hosts lecture Republicans on the need to maintain the flow of taxpayer dollars to Planned Parenthood. “You shouldn’t rush to defund,” CNN’s Chris Cuomo told one GOP congesswoman. And, Bloomberg’s John Heilemann and Mark Halperin declare Hillary Clinton’s “fiery” and “passionate” defense of the abortion industry the “best day I’ve seen her have as a candidate in this cycle.”

In the midst of the covering the U.S. Embassy’s reopening in Havana, Cuba on Friday morning, MSNBC’s The Rundown couldn’t help but repeatedly ooze over the fact that Secretary of State John Kerry attended the ceremony using a walking cane that belonged to former President John F. Kennedy’s brother and former fellow Massachusetts Democratic Senator Ted Kennedy. Gushing that it’s “a fascinating backstory,” NBC's Andrea Mitchell made the first mention just after 9:00 a.m. Eastern about Kerry using “Teddy Kennedy’s cane.”

On her MSNBC show on Wednesday, host Andrea Mitchell brought on Heather McGhee, president of the left-wing group Demos, to “sort all this out” when came to the debate over student loan debt in the 2016 race: “...student debt 101. The presidential candidates are put to the test on what to do about the rising cost of college.”

The “big three” networks of ABC, CBS, and NBC continued to cover on Wednesday night news that scandal-ridden Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton turned over her private e-mail server and numerous thumb drives to the FBI but largely brushed it off as “a headache” and “distraction” for Clinton in what has “been a tough summer.”

Rushing to defend Hillary Clinton in the wake of revelations that the former secretary of state sent classified material via a private e-mail server, MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell fretted on Wednesday: “...there's going to be a cloud of suspicion, though, by those who just want to see conspiracy theories. There's almost no way she can clear this up to the satisfaction of critics on the other side in terms of the politics of this, and it's taking its toll.”

The bombshell news that Hillary Clinton will finally turn over her private e-mail server, as well as the confirmation that her electronic communications as Secretary of State included top secret material, warranted a mere nine and half minutes on Wednesday's network morning shows. This is out of a combined eight hours on NBC, CBS and ABC. ABC's Good Morning America offered the least, a scant one minute and 40 seconds. CBS This Morning allowed three minutes and 38 seconds, yet the show's hosts investigated Trump and his latest comments for four minutes and 55 seconds.

On MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell Reports on Tuesday, The Washington Post’s Karen Tumulty saw a big advantage for Hillary Clinton in the midst of the Republican primary campaign: “But the fact is this complete chaos on the Republican side is presenting a lot of opportunities for Hillary Clinton, not only to, again, paint them as extremists, but also to actually put some policy points on the board, which is not really happening much on the Republican side.”

While all three broadcast evening newscasts tonight noted Hillary Clinton's reaction to Donald Trump's offensive comments regarding Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly and her menstrual cycle, NBC gave considerable attention to Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton's attempt to exploit the Trump kerfuffle in order to attack all Republican presidential candidates as anti-woman.

On Sunday’s Meet the Press, NBC’s Andrea Mitchell eagerly declared Hillary Clinton one of the big winners of last week’s Republican presidential debate. The MSNBC host/NBC News correspondent insisted that because “the e-mail controversy was not really explored very adequately by the questioners, and also because of this focus on gender, [Hillary Clinton] is one of the beneficiaries of what happened ironically.”

During Thursday night's MSNBC coverage of the Republican presidential debate, Andrea Mitchell praised Ohio Governor John Kasich’s defense of expanding Medicaid in his state: "Kasich's defense of taking the Medicaid money was absolutely a great defense. It could sell with Republican primary voters and it is terrific for a general election candidate."

On her Thursday MSNBC show, host Andrea Mitchell fretted that Republican candidates would be not be properly “fact-checked” during the upcoming presidential debate, especially on the Planned Parenthood scandal: “...one of the issues is going to be whether there's going to be any fact checking by the moderators. Certainly we can all do it later after the fact. But the Planned Parenthood debate has not been very fact-based because of those horrific videos, the edited videos.”
