While the “big three” of ABC, CBS, and NBC all covered on Monday night the developments at the United Nations (U.N.) and the meeting between President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin, ABC’s World News Tonight and NBC Nightly News failed to go the distance and report that Obama’s disastrous rebel training initiative in Syria had been suspended. In contrast, the CBS Evening News not only covered the announcement from the Pentagon but led the newscast with the story.

This week, after a summer of Hillary Clinton scandals, NBC’s Savannah Guthrie grills Chelsea: “What’s she like as a grandmother?...Paint us a picture of Hillary Clinton at home, talking baby talk.” Meanwhile, the media continue to fawn over the “remarkable” candidacy of Socialist Bernie Sanders, even as longtime Newsweek reporter Eleanor Clift castigates Carly Fiorina for the latter’s condemnations of Planned Parenthood: “To imply that they are selling and harvesting baby parts — I think it’s really offensive.”
As news broke of House Speaker John Boehner planning to resign from Congress, MSNBC’s hosts and correspondents used the opportunity to bash conservatives in the House of Representatives. Late in the 10 a.m. ET hour, Andrea Mitchell worried: “...he's stepping down under the threat of the caucus...and it remains to be seen whether the more radical conservative members who wanted to shut down the government can actually gain control of the caucus...”
On Wednesday evening, ABC and CBS moved on from the latest break in the Hillary Clinton e-mail scandal as it was revealed that the FBI has been able to recover an unknown number of previously deleted personal and work e-mails from Clinton’s private e-mail server. The CBS Evening News also completely ignored the 2016 presidential campaign to instead give a full segment to the five-year-old girl from California who met Pope Francis to express concern for her illegal immigrant parents.
On Friday’s NBC Today, co-host Savannah Guthrie proclaimed: “Hillary Clinton hitting back at another Republican candidate, Carly Fiorina. She went after Clinton several times during the debate.” In the report that followed, correspondent Andrea Mitchell noted how Fiorina “lit up the debate stage by partly targeting Hillary Clinton, the most famous woman in American politics.”
All three Thursday network evening newscasts led off with their respective recaps and analysis of the second Republican presidential debate, but NBC Nightly News stood out in proclaiming that the event “expos[ed] disconnects within the Republican Party” on issues such as Iraq in addition to defending Hillary Clinton from Fiorina’s “fierce attack” against her and Planned Parenthood.
Eager to provide supposed “fact-checking” of the Republican presidential debate, on Thursday, MSNBC NewsNation host Tamron Hall declared: “But to Carly Fiorina's moment regarding Planned Parenthood. While that comment was applauded by conservatives, a lot of that Twitter traffic was also...people fact-checking her on that statement.”
Closing out Wednesday’s NBC Nightly News, liberal correspondent and MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell played the role of Ronald Reagan biographer in using the late former president to attack the current Republican presidential field and ruled that Reagan’s “message was infused with sunny optimism” and represents “the flip side of today's angry rhetoric.”

During Tuesday's edition of NBC's Today morning program, news anchor Andrea Mitchell addressed a trend that probably has former secretary of state Hillary Clinton and her campaign staff feeling "trumped:" White women are “abandoning” the Democratic front-runner in the 2016 presidential campaign “in droves."
The host of Andrea Mitchell Reports -- which airs at 12 noon weekdays on the MSNBC cable channel -- started her report by stating: “Hillary Clinton is reaching out to that group that she'd always counted on: white women voters who are now abandoning her in droves during the last two months. “
On Wednesday night, ABC was the lone network to omit from their coverage of the Iran deal rally that Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei offered a new rant hours earlier in which he promised the country will not cooperate with the U.S. on any other issue beyond the deal in addition to predicting that Israel would not exist in 25 years.

After interviewing Democratic presidential front-runner Hilary Clinton on Monday, veteran NBC reporter Andrea Mitchell admitted the following day that she couldn’t ask everything she wanted to because she was afraid Clinton would abruptly halt the interview and leave.
While ABC’s World News Tonight aired on Tuesday David Muir’s exclusive interview with Hillary Clinton, the CBS Evening News and NBC Nightly News soldiered on with full stories on the 2016 campaign boosting the Clinton camp’s “reset” trying to promote the candidate’s “fun side...along with a lighter touch” in an attempt “to match the exuberance surrounding Bernie Sanders.”
