Arthur Chu, best known as one of the all-time biggest money-winners on Jeopardy!, is also a writer who frequently contributes to Salon. In a Thursday article, Chu saluted departing Daily Show host Jon Stewart for, among other things, keeping him sane during his college days. Unfortunately, recalled Chu, back then America as a whole had lost its mind.

Meanwhile, in the August issue of Vanity Fair, James Wolcott gave props to Stewart for “all that he’s been through on our behalf, subjecting himself to a radiation bombardment of mostly right-wing idiocy."

From the cover text: "Christians in the Middle East are being forced out of their homes, enslaved and killed. Why is no one coming to their aid?"

A week after CNN's New Day aired a pair of pre-recorded segments focusing on an allegedly balanced group of New Hampshire voters who ended up displaying political views stacked heavily in the liberal direction, this week's batch of voters -- this time from Charleston, South Carolina -- appear even more slanted to the left in spite of suggestions of a balanced sample with equal numbers of Republicans, Democrats and independents.

CNN's Cuomo Hits Fiorina Over Her Net Worth, Defends Obama on ISIS

As GOP presidential candidate and former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina appeared as a guest on Wednesday's New Day, CNN co-host Chris Cuomo pressed Fiorina over her wealth and her criticisms of President Obama's handling of the ISIS threat.

After bringing up the former CEO's $59 million net worth, Cuomo made it sound as if he were speaking for 98 percent of Americans as he suggested that they would see her as "the problem" rather than "the solution."

By contrast, when he noted the point of view that her success should be considered an asset, the CNN host made sure to associate this point of view with someone he and other CNN hosts clearly hold a negative view of in the form of newly announced presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Following news on Wednesday that the Obama administration will send 450 additional U.S. troops back to Iraq to help train the Iraqi military against ISIS, ABC’s World News Tonight and the CBS Evening News chose to exclude any criticism of the Obama administration’s ISIS policy while NBC Nightly News made multiple critical points about the administration as Richard Engel declared: “It’s hard to see how a few hundred non-combat troops are going to make much of a difference.”

While network correspondents like ABC’s Terry Moran singled out “an amazing admission from President Obama” that there is still no "complete strategy" to defeat or degrade ISIS, USA Today’s front page on Tuesday carried an upbeat headline in all caps: “OBAMA VOWS TO BOLSTER IRAQIS.” 

The brief ten-paragraph front-pager by Kim Hjelmgaard and Jim Michaels never included a quote from Obama saying there still wasn’t a strategy. It only referred to pledges to improve training:

In May, as ISIS terrorists captured the cities of Ramadi and Palmyra, and with FBI warnings of hundreds of radicalized sympathizers here in the U.S., ABC, CBS and NBC devoted a combined 84.5 evening news minutes to ISIS. Despite the dour news, viewers heard virtually no criticism of President Obama’s handling of the terror group — just 43 seconds in a pair of NBC Nightly News stories, or less than one percent of the coverage.
