Will Media Report Al Gore’s Hypocritical Private Plane Flights?

By now, most conservatives have likely seen or heard about the video Fox News's Sean Hannity aired on Sunday's "Hannity's America" wherein the Global Warmingist-in-Chief, soon-to-be-Dr. Al Gore, was seen getting off a private, fuel inefficient jet at San Francisco Airport before stepping into a non-hybrid, Lincoln Town Car.

This raises a question: Should we expect to see this video on CNN and MSNBC all day Monday, as well as on the morning and evening news programs of ABC, NBC, and CBS?

If the answer is "No," then why not? After all, as Redstate reported about this video Sunday (emphasis added, video available here):

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

If we were to calculate the amount of carbon emitted from Al Gore's trip from Nashville to San Francisco, it would be 45,000 pounds of carbon. From Camarillo to San Fransico [sic], it would be 10,000 pounds of carbon, for a total of 55,000 pounds of carbon.

Notably the average car emits .916 lbs. of CO2/ gallon vs. Al Gore's 21 lbs. of CO2/gallon in his jet. So for the amount of carbon and gasoline that Al Gore emitted, the average family could travel back and forth from Nashville to San Francisco in a Station Wagon 15 times. Again, they could do that 15 times just to equal Al Gores "damage to the Planet" in one day. Worst of all, Sean Hannity and Fox News found out that there were 112 commercial alternatives that Al Gore could have flown to reach that exact destination.

As such, while Gore is telling people all over the world that they need to drive less and buy hybrid cars or else our planet will face insurmountable consequences, why aren't media holding him to the same standards he's holding others?

Or, is only conservative hypocrisy considered newsworthy?

This video

Isn't exclusive to Fox, is it?? If so, they wouldn't be able to show it.

Gore

Gore's a hypocrite. "Global Warming" is a con game. Look to  money and political power as the real motivation for this scam.

NEVER,NEVER trust a "liberal"

That's obvious.

Gore's a hypocrite is the easy stuff. It's harder to expect other networks to air something when, at least on YouTube, it's labelled as "exclusive" by Fox News.

But I'm certainly no authority on what Fox News will or should do -- that's obvious by now. ;) If Noel's post somehow means they're actually willing to share, I'm sure there's bias; but if it's exclusive content gathered by Fox News, I don't know what other networks can do to cover the story absent the video...

Folks

Folks,

No one has exclusive rights to news. What Hannity had up until last evening when this was broadcast was exclusive rights to the video. This is why Drudge had reported the existence of the video and what Hannity was going to address as early as Friday or Saturday I believe.

As such, anyone can report this. ANYONE! However, if FNC has private rights to the video, even though it's now on YouTube, it's conceivable that other outlets would have to ask FNC's permission to show it, which would certainly be granted because news outlets are ALWAYS sharing such things.

With that in mind, when Sean presented this as "Exclusive" last evening, it's because he was the first to air it. ns

ok, cool

But I think it's pretty certain in the legal environment these days they'd need to ask permission of Fox News if they want to show the video rather than just discussing its contents. That being so, it would be nice to see Fox News pre-emptively giving permission, if only to allay any possible confusion.

S

S,

It seems safe to assume that permission is always granted after the first airing. The first time someone said "No" would end the likelihood of other agencies saying "Yes" in the future. Think about it. A lot of raw footage is initially exclusive to one entity, and then released for all. Consider the vids and pix NBC was sent by the V-Tech assassin. After they aired it as "Exclusive," everyone got it. ns

Good point.

And IANAL, but one possible difference is that MSNBC did not pay for the killer's video. Fox News may have financed hypocrite-vision themselves, and that difference MIGHT matter to the lawyers, but assuming the others attributed it to Fox I don't see why it would be a problem. But I'll bet their lawyers make them ask, and if the conservatives at Fox want the story to spread, it might be nice to issue pre-emptive permission just to see what the others do.

Noel,

You know the answer to that one.  YES!!!!

21 lbs of CO2/gallon in his

21 lbs of CO2/gallon in his jet???  Somebody better check their math!

Not necessarily. I don't

Not necessarily. I don't know exactly what jet fuel is, but assuming like most fuel its carbon and hydrogen and the carbon chains are sufficiently long, you go from each carbon atom being associated with two hydrogen atoms (plus two neighboring carbon atoms) to a state where each carbon atom is bound to two oxygen atoms. Since the atomic weight of carbon is 14, oxygen 16 and hydrogen 1, by exchanging each of the two hydrogen atoms (mass of CH2=16) for two oxygen atoms (mass of CO2 = 46) I get that the  mass of the CO2 is more than 2.5x the weight of the fuel that's oxidized.

Lots of simplifying assumptions, but the take home is you need to add in the mass of the oxygen, which can be greater than the mass of the fuel when calculating exhaust masses.

Goodnight, Sweet Prince

I think Prince Albert has already passed his peak.   Once hailed by Dem Senators as a "prophet" and an international hero, and by Hollywood and academia as the GW Front Man, Gore is barely visible anymore (Though still a threat to whatever sanity Washington still retains on GW).  His GW Global Concerts were a flop, and he seems to be keeping a lower profile since scientists have made open challenges and offers to debate his "facts."

I wonder if he's already gone the Jesse Jackson Route, whereby one refuses to appear alongside anyone who might offer an argument, and all public appearances are strictly controlled.

Of Course not

I'm surprised at you people here. Scheduled commercial flights are for the little people like us. Really important people out saving the world like St. Al Gore need their private jets and large homes that consume lots of power.

Now why would any reporter hoping to hitch a ride in St. Gore's private plan report on this matter.

(Have I captured the attitude of Gore and his ilk?)

I saw this last night and

I saw this last night and was not surprised.  The Gore toady appeaser he had on was funny to say the least.  I do have a question about how many people are in his entourage using the jet and how many SS he has with him.  As a former VP I think he has some SS attachment.  SS is not German in this case it means Secret Service. ;+)  Seriously if the jet is used to capacity then it may be a neccessity and some convienience.  I mean the man is not normal...uhhh I mean, well he isnt normal but....you know what I mean.

Nuke em til they glow then shoot em in the dark.

SS is not German in this case

Are you sure?  I saw "Star Wars: The Legacy Revealed" on the History Channel and in that special they followed an image of Senator Palpatine's ascension to emperor with an image of Bush talking about the WOT.  Ssshh!  Don't tell though.

MSM goes wild!!

Al Gore (D) is Mr. Eco-friendly global warming GOD, change- your-way-of-life-or-we're-all-going-to-die prophet, MSM sees nothing but partisan politics in pointing out Gore's private jet flight.

MSM yawns. Can't take the spotlight off of the Bush sucks template.

Hypocrisy is only fun when

Hypocrisy is only fun when it involves the sex or bribery or the implication of sex or bribery for which Republicans will always be the target since they stand for morals and values- the things that the MSMs blame for their falure to get Gore and Kerry elected based on those who turned out to vote, so their job is to erode those morals and values by pointing out hypocrisy in Republicans and Conservatives.  Gore flying in a Jet is not news because not only do the Dems not stand for anything moral, as such they also have the right to be hypocritical.  A hypocrital Democrat is as newsworthy as watching a pot of water boil.

Oh, I disagree.

I think this video was exquisite stuff, with plenty of good joke/fun possibilities. It pretty well sinks any possible late Gore-saves-the-day Democrat candidacy, too.

Even if only-Fox airs it, and I'm hoping the others will report it too (at least Stossel on ABC!) plenty of people saw it last night. I was amazed & amused in equal quantities, and I suspect others were, too.

No doubt...

this was good stuff....for you and I.  But that's because you and I already know Gore's agenda.  When it comes to the general public, first of all, they'll never see this on the MSM news, second, even if they do it's like "yeah, so we all knew that Dems are hypocritical, so what..., that's what makes them so delightfully charming and good for reality a TV series in the White House, come 2008."

Of course not, Al Gore is

Of course not, Al Gore is doing what all leftists do, overthrowing the established order to proclaim a new Truth to liberate Man.  If Al Gore is not doing what he preaches it is because he lives in the established order and is living consistently with that order as we are all are in bondage to do until that order is overthrown.  Hence as long as he is preaching the message of "Down with the Establishment" he must identify with the downtrodden being in bondage to the Establishment.  If he would cease to preach the message, "Down with the Establishment", he would be of the Establishment.  Do you get it???  <sarcasm>

"Any ideology that breaks the hold a comprehensive system of thought has on the minds of men contributes to the liberation of man. Any ideology that makes man question inherited beliefs is an aid to enlightenment. A truth that reigns without checks and balances is a tyrant who must be overthrown, and any falsehood that can aid us in the over throw of this tyrant is to be welcomed." Paul Feyerabend  http://antigreen.blogspot.com/

Of course this begs the inconvenient question, "to what are we being liberated to?"  If you ever wonder why liberals don't really seem to have any cohesive or comprehensive system of thought, it is because, that is precisely what they are attempting to tear down.  Order is the enemy, no matter what the order is.  In the end, even science must be thrown down as with God because rules are made to be obeyed and obedience is the defacto oppression of one over the other.  To the liberal, total Anarchy is true freedom because the self, the ID, reigns supreme.  Little echos of Dante...

Bruzilla is on the right

Bruzilla is on the right track.  One gallon of jet fuel (kerosine) weights 6.7 lbs/gal.  How does burning something that weights 6.7 lbs generate 21 lbs of something else.

The "O" in CO2 comes from

The "O" in CO2 comes from the air.  Oxygen weighs something as well.  Carbon has the atomic weight of 12 and Oxygen has the atomic weight of 16.  (12+16+16=44)  Atomic weight of CO2 is 44.  So when you combust a carbon compound, you change it's structure and hence it's weight.  Remember when you burn a fuel you then lock up the O2 in the new chemical which is no longer available for use until it is converted back again by some chemical process.

Does Not Compute?

"Notably the average car emits .916 lbs. of CO2/ gallon vs. Al Gore's 21 lbs. of CO2/gallon in his jet

Is the math correct?

The government's own website states automobile gasoline produces 19.564 Pounds CO2 per gallon.  The average CO2 production for jet fuel appears appropriate.

Could someone explain the disrepancy please?

For the person enquiring into how a gallon of gas can produce more pounds of CO2 per gallon of gas than the number of total pounds of gasoline in a gallon please read here.

Even if Hannity's numbers are incorrect, Al Gore is still one huge hypocrital charlatan snake oil salesman.

Killing them with kindness isn't working.  Time to get scrappy with the Donkeys.

I now see the discrepancy

I now see the discrepancy in the data quaoted in Noel's article.

Hannity first states that the jet produces 21 pounds of CO2 per gallon of fuel.  Then he states the jet produces 9,493 pounds of CO2 per hour of use which figured out to be more than 55,000 pounds of CO2 produced for the 5.5 hour trip from Nashville to Camarillo Airport near Los Angeles and then to San Francisco.

Then Hannity states the average automobile produces 0.916 pounds of CO2 per mile driven.  At that rate, an automibile  drive from Nashville directly to San Francisco would produce about 1,800 pounds of CO2.  The Gore family station wagon could make a round trip more than 15 times in order to equal the amount of CO2 produced by Gore's one way trip jet trip to San Francisco.

Using Hannity's numbers (which he said were from the EPA), the automobile driven (he said a station wagon with four people and one dog but no mention of luggage) would get a little over 21 miles per gallon based on the equation:

(19.564 lbs CO2 per gallon gas)/(0.916 lbs CO2 per mile).

Riddle solved.

Gore is still a hypocrital charlatan snake oil salesman.

Killing them with kindness isn't working.  Time to get scrappy with the Donkeys.

Oh, come on, Strat!

Doncha know, the jet was going there anyway, so Big Al didn't do a thing to increase any carbon footprint?

Gore the hypocrite

No they won't report the truth that Algore is using the global warming scam to line his pockets (btw, it's climate change now, not global warming, they have repackaged the scam).

Where is the video of Algore with his pants around his ankles bent over in the buddist temple men's room?

Isn't it Ironic

Isn't it ironic, if you're a Republican and you're gay, you're a hypocrite, even though Democrats support the gay agenda, they will out you and call you all sorts of names.

Now, if you're a Democrat, and a Global warming alarmist who doesn't practice what he preaches, you'll never be accused of anything.
