Maher: Sarah Palin at 16 Was ‘Probably Pregnant But Still in Third Grade’

You would think given all the heat MSNBC’s Martin Bashir is taking for his vile comments about Sarah Palin earlier this month, comedians might want to lay low for a while in attacking the former Alaska governor.

Not HBO’s Bill Maher who on Real Time Friday said, “When Reagan was elected, Sarah Palin was barely 16, probably pregnant, but still in third grade” (video follows with transcript and commentary):

BILL MAHER: Just last week, Sarah Palin said, "There is no Ronald Reagan on the scene today. If he was, that's who I would put my faith in." That's quite a hold on someone. After all, when Reagan was elected, Sarah Palin was barely 16, probably pregnant, but still in third grade.

Readers are advised that besides getting uproarious laughter from the crowd, Maher’s guests – BBC’s Katty Kay, CNN’s Paul Begala, and NBC/HBO’s Wendell Pierce – all found this hysterical.

Never mind that Palin graduated high school at the age of 18 like most Americans, has a bachelor’s degree in communications, and had her first child at the age of 25.

Why let facts get in the way when there’s a conservative woman to bash?

Now given Begala, Maher, and Pierce’s political leanings, it’s not surprising they’d find this hysterical.

But shouldn’t Kay feel some sisterhood for a fellow woman being so misogynistically disparaged?

Apparently not, for such feminist feelings go out the window for liberal women when a conservative is the target.

Shame on all of them.
