Clinton Appoints 'Climate Change Envoy' From Her Own Think Tank

January 26th, 2009 2:51 PM

In one of her first official decisions since being confirmed as Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton on Monday appointed a special envoy on climate change who is currently a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress.

As NewsBusters reported in June 2007, CAP is led by former President Clinton's Chief of Staff John Podesta, and the list of all those involved reads like a Clinton administration Who's Who.

Not feeling the need to keep this secret, Hillary actually bragged to a group of liberal bloggers in October 2007 that she helped create the organization.

Now, according to the Associated Press, she has appointed someone from this institution to a newly-created post within the State Department:

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton on Monday appointed a special envoy for climate change, vowing that the Obama administration would restore America's credentials and leadership in shaping environmental policy.

Pledging that the United States would play a primary role in international efforts to stem global, Clinton named Todd Stern, a former White House assistant who was the chief U.S. negotiator at the Kyoto Protocol talks in her husband's administration, to the post. [...]

Prior to his appointment, Stern was a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress and a partner in the WilmerHale law firm. He served in the Clinton administration from 1993 to 2001, first at the White House, handling the Kyoto Protocol and follow-up talks in Buenos Aires and coordinating the president's Initiative on Global Climate Change.

Readers are encouraged to review a piece written by Matt Sheffield and myself last year which addressed how CAP was created in 2003 with seed money from George Soros as well as Herb and Marion Sandler. The goal was to take back government by infiltrating media with liberal outlets and views.

I guess it's working.

*****Update: Stern has been a financial supporter of Clinton and Rahm Emanuel.
