In her continuing campaign to promote Elizabeth Warren's presidential prospects, Mika Brzezinski has attempted to recruit an unlikely ally: Steve Rattner.
Rattner--President Obama's former "car czar"--is an investment manager and what passes for a moderate in the modern Dem party. The notion that he would support leftist Elizabeth Warren in a Dem primary is far-fetched to say the least. But Mika told Rattner he would "root" for Warren "because you will do that for me." A compliant Ratter replied that he would "do anything" for Mika. View the video after the jump.
The panel had been discussing a poll showing Hillary Clinton way out in front in the Dem field, but Mika wanted to speculate on what could happen if for any reason Hillary was out of the way.
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: On the Democratic side it's all Hillary Clinton, 89 %, but who else is waiting in the wings? What if she doesn't run? What it if she falters?
BEN SMITH: If she doesn't run it's going to be just wide open.
BRZEZINSKI: Well, who stands out to you?
STEVE RATTNER: You might see Elizabeth Warren.
BRZEZINSKI: Exactly! I wanted to hear that come out of Steve Ratner's mouth. I think you're right, Steve! I think it's going to be Elizabeth Warren.
RATTNER: I didn't say I'd be rooting for her. I'm looking at the world as it is, not as I wish it to be.
BRZEZINSKI: You know what? You will root for her. Because you will do that for me--right?
RATTNER: I would do anything for you, Mika.
BRZEZINSKI: Oh, there you go. Elizabeth Warren: see, look. You've got Rattner.
