‘Dramatic Moment’: NBC, CBS Tout Dems Disrupting Tribute to Terror Victims

On Tuesday, both NBC’s Today and CBS This Morning actually promoted an offensive temper tantrum thrown by congressional Democrats in the House of Representatives on Monday during what was supposed to be a moment of silence in memory of the victims of the Orlando terrorist attack.

Wrapping up a report on Today, correspondent Peter Alexander touted: “And a dramatic moment on the House floor after a moment of silence for the Orlando victims, loud protests from Democrats, demanding action on restricting guns. Some Democrats yelling, ‘Where’s the bill?!’ there.”

Later in the 9 a.m. ET hour, weatherman Al Roker seized on the controversial incident as he hoped for gun control: “Well, you saw on the floor of the House yesterday just kind of chaos broke out there. ‘Where’s the bill?! Where’s the bill?!’ I think maybe we’re getting to that point now where this conversation is not going to end after this memory fades. We'll see.”

On CBS This Morning, co-host Charlie Rose initially acted as if both sides of the aisle were responsible for the disruption and lamented: “The Washington Post reports on how members of Congress could not agree on a moment of silence for the Orlando shooting victims.” He then revealed that Democrats were the sole perpetrators: “Several Democrats walked out in protest during yesterday’s ceremony. When it was over, some members shouted at Speaker Paul Ryan, demanding a vote on tougher gun laws.”

After footage ran of the “protest,” Rose declared: “Democrats hollered, “Where's the bill?!” They say moments of silence following mass shootings are becoming a symbol for inaction on gun control.”

He only briefly noted the Republican response to the partisan stunt: “A Ryan spokeswoman called the disturbance disheartening.”

Following the San Bernardino terrorist attack in December, NBC and CBS cheered the cover of the left-wing New York Daily News proclaiming “God Isn’t Fixing This” as it attacked people for offering thoughts and prayers to shooting victims.
