Networks Ignore Anti-Semitic Democrat Calling Israel a 'Racist State'

July 17th, 2023 8:41 PM

The silence was deafening Monday when the "big three" evening news broadcasts refused to cover the despicable comments made Saturday by anti-Semitic Democrat Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (WA) who had called America's biggest ally in the Middle East a "racist state" during her speech at the Netroots conference. Jayapal was not some fringe Democrat, she served as the chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, which was the mainstream of the Democrat Party. While she did apologize after outcry from members of her own party, ABC's World News Tonight, CBS Evening News, and NBC Nightly News still decided to look the other way at the vile racist comments from their fellow Democrat.

What did the networks find more newsworthy? A cylindrical object landing on an Australian beach (ABC), left-wing activist singer Taylor Swift becoming the first woman to have four of the top 10 most popular albums at the same time (CBS), and a plane's inflatable slide falling in a residential neighborhood (NBC). Anything to avoid reporting on real news.

Meanwhile, Special Report on the Fox News Channel wasn't afraid to report on the stories that matter. White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich kept viewers in the loop on the latest anti-Semitic comments from a prominent Democrat.

"Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal the head of the Congressional Progressive Caucus is under fire tonight from Republicans and Democrats for calling Israel a racist state and now the President just may have to answer for it," Heinrich reported.

She added that there's now "pressure on President Biden to assure the Israeli president tomorrow at the White House that this isn't representative of Biden's party as a whole."

Continuing her report, Heinrich announced that "without confirming whether the remarks came up in Biden's call with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu today, officials say Biden made clear that the U.S. commitment to Israel is ironclad. But House Republicans say it's the elephant in the room."

This bias by omission from the three networks was made possible by Liberty Mutual on ABC, Progressive on CBS, and Allstate on NBC. Their information is linked.

6:01:17 p.m. Eastern

JACQUI HEINRICH: Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal the head of the Congressional Progressive Caucus is under fire tonight from Republicans and Democrats for calling Israel a racist state and now the President just may have to answer for it.

Pressure on President Biden to assure the Israeli president tomorrow at the White House that this isn't representative of Biden's party as a whole.

REP. PRAMILA JAYAPAL (D-WA): We have been fighting to make it clear that Israel is a racist state.

HEINRICH: Jayapal has since apologized, a relief to officials.

JOHN KIRBY: We think an apology was the right thing to do for those comments.

HEINRICH: Without confirming whether the remarks came up in Biden's call with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu today, officials say Biden made clear that the U.S. commitment to Israel is ironclad. But House Republicans say it's the elephant in the room.

SPEAKER KEVIN MCCARTHY: If the Democrats want to believe that they do not have a conference that continues to make Anti-Semitic remarks, they need to do something about it. Because they’ve defended these individuals time and again.
