CNN's Baldwin Invites Fellow CNN Host to Accuse McConnell of Racism, Sexism

On Wednesday's CNN Newsroom with Brooke Baldwin, as comedian and CNN host W. Kamau Bell appeared as a guest, host Baldwin invited him to trash Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell as she brought up his rebuke of Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren for breaking Senate rules in her criticisms of then-Senator Jeff Sessions.

Baldwin immediately inserted racism and sexism into the discussion as she posed:

BALDWIN: Elizabeth Warren, you know, Glenn Thrush, I give him credit for this note -- Glenn of the New York Times -- said, 'Here you have, you know, a woman reading a letter from a black woman, married to a civil rights icon, and was then rebuked by a man from the South." Thoughts?

The CNN comedian responded:

BELL: Get us in the Way Back Machine. It's like Back to the Future -- we're getting in the time machine. Yeah, he managed to disrespect a white woman and a black woman in one swift motion. It was quite impressive. And, for me, as a dad who's raising two daughters, I looked at my two daughters and pointed and said, "See, she's persisting. That's what daddy wants you to do, too, Persist when men tell you to shut up."

Baldwin then brought up Hillary Clinton and boosted the former Democratic presidential candidate: "Which is exactly what Hillary Clinton has pointed out in her tweet, you know, 'So must we all.'"

Not mentioned was the warning that Senator Warren had been given came as a result of her reading former Senator Ted Kennedy attacking Sessions, and, after she disregarded the warning by reading King's words, she received the rebuke.
