As we at NewsBusters have noticed, the media often pass off professional or semi-professional liberal activists as average Joes and Janes. The effect, of course, is to give a feel of authenticity to the problems, real or perceived, that these folks are struggling with, and often demand government intervention for.
So it's not surprising that the "undecided voters" in the recent Democratic debate in Vegas were often liberal activists. Bryan Preston of Hot Air looked into it. You can check out his blog entry here, or watch the embedded video posted above. (h/t Michelle Malkin)

"Liberal" activists
November 20, 2007 - 12:40 ET by iveseenitallAnd they claimed they knew nothing about that guy "George" who called Bush Sr. on Larry King in '92. Dirty, rotten LIARS!
NEVER,NEVER trust a "liberal"

what is truth i put some
November 20, 2007 - 13:10 ET by TruthMongerwhat is truth
i put some thought into that quite a bit:)
and the truth comes out
November 20, 2007 - 13:02 ET by candanceI distinctly remember the day after the debate, a leftie on here insisted there was no possible way the candidates could have known Chris Jackson was an anti-war veteran.

Marines are a funny breed.
November 20, 2007 - 13:12 ET by BruzillaMarines are a funny breed. I know a lot of ex and former sailors, soldiers, airmen, etc., but Marines take a great deal of price in their belief that once you're a Marine, you're a Marine for the rest of your life. That's a belief structure that I've seen serves Marines very well.
I wonder if Mr. Jackson realizes that his actions betray those he used to serve with, and mark him as a coward? I wonder if he realizes how little he just sold his future for?
The leftie was Leon.
November 20, 2007 - 13:15 ET by ricklailThe leftie was Leon. Haven't heard anything frorm him since the truth came out. I think Jimbo keeps up with him.

Funny how the Lib mind
November 20, 2007 - 14:15 ET by BruzillaFunny how the Lib mind works. You can suggest to them that the U.S. launched an empty Saturn V rocket, faked days of telemetry data, built an enormous sound stage in the desert that looked like the moon, faked guys walking on the moon, and somehow got the three guys into a capsule and floating in the Pacific... and do all of this while keeping everything a total secret, and they'll swear it could all be true. But suggest that Democrats would load up an audience with activist ringers??? That's just crazy talk!
Degree of Indecision
November 20, 2007 - 13:02 ET by Hunter12You guys are forgetting that their indecison may simple be a matter of which lib kook they are voting for.
"An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last." - Sir Winston Churchill
Hunter, I completely agree.
November 20, 2007 - 14:35 ET by DaBirdHunter, I completely agree. I'm sure what they meant was "undecided democrat voters". But the real question is: Why did they load the audience with obvious democrat activists? They couldn't find a few dozen undecided regular folks? Which is pretty easy to answer. Regular people off the street are going to wonder why he/she has to ask the CNN/Democrat pre-approved questions. An entrenched activist doesn't ask why, they happily follow orders.
You know those "will work
November 20, 2007 - 13:07 ET by mattmYou know those "will work for food" sign-holders near freeway entrances and other high-traffic spots? They're paid political activists. They advertise in the classifieds.
They increase their activity during Republican administrations. Their goal is to raise money for Lib causes while perpetuating an image of a bad economy....
A few years back, I saw one of them being dropped off at his location, by a well dressed woman in a late model compact SUV. The scruffy looking guy already had a wad of one dollar bills when he was dropped off... it was about 7:45 A.M. on a Saturday.
I also know someone who applied for one of those jobs (listed under "political activist") and found out what a scam it was....
-
November 20, 2007 - 13:31 ET by dahliatraversFunny, one time, I saw a guy doing the same thing "take a break". He walked over, hugged and then chatted for a while with a woman in a late model sedan - clearly, his wife or a family member. It is not possible to confirm or deny your assertion that he was a political activist. But it certainly did not fit into the picture he was trying to create standing on the side of the road with his sign.
This is worse than...
November 20, 2007 - 13:12 ET by szampThis is worse than the FEMA fake press conference.
I wonder how long they will be able to fool their "followers" with this type of events.
You need to be really naive to believe these are real debates. No wonder Hollyweird supports them. They can all work as actors if their political career ends.
I refer to liberals as followers for two reasons:
- They would rather follow than lead,
- Liberalism is like a cult that removes any reasoning from individuals.
Worse indeed - and Wolf?
November 20, 2007 - 13:15 ET by Gary HallWorse indeed - and Wolf? Has CNN fired Wolf yet?
Bet that the plants for the CNN debate with the Republicans come from much the same places?
Hmmm....
November 20, 2007 - 13:33 ET by JeffWeimerThe only thing undecided about these voters is who they will vote for in the PRIMARY. It seems they all subscribe to the Democrat agenda.
They'll vote for any Democrat, just like I'll vote for any Republican. Fair is fair. These are pre-primary debates, so this isn't beyond the pale, yet. Wait till these "undecided" voters show up at a Republican debate. Then it's sandbagging.
This is totally different than the planted "questions" that CNN vetted - that's cynical ratings gaming right there. It goes to common sense that these voters would be interested in the Democrat field, so they would ask Democrat friendly questions - as long as they are their own, which seems to have been massaged by CNN, not good.
Undecided
November 20, 2007 - 14:36 ET by dmntd1I think the 'undecided' part is about which dumbocrat they'll vote for. I'm sure all attendees were pre-screened to ensure their socialistic tendencies were honest and hardened.
I really think that questioning others' masculinity is a game probably better left to people who haven't had more cock in and out of them than a Tyson Chicken regional distribution center. AceOfSpades 06162007
CNN Washington Bureau Chief
November 20, 2007 - 14:58 ET by Right2thePointCNN Washington Bureau Chief David Bohrman commiserated: "Nobody wants
or expects planted questions," he said. "We booked the crowd and we
pretty much know what their interests are. We think we've eliminated
any plants."
According to the CNN source,
November 20, 2007 - 14:58 ET by Right2thePointAccording to the CNN source, recruiting for the questions began about
two weeks before the event, and seating and coordination were put in
place days before the debate took place. "The only requirement was that
they not be paid or volunteer staff to a presidential campaign," says
the source.
At the next CNN-hosted
November 20, 2007 - 15:06 ET by fitzfongAt the next CNN-hosted Democrat Debate hosted by Wolfie Blitzer, I'm guessing Su-Zahn will offer the mic to some other "independent" voters. Perhaps Michael Jacobsen, Kate Michaelman, Jesse MacBeth and Scott Thomas Beauchamp?
