Naked Politics: Lena Dunham Pushes Obamacare from Bathtub

January 31st, 2017 9:28 AM

Actress and producer Lena Dunham wants you to get covered. But ironically, she delivered her message nude.

If you thought bizarre celebrity advocacy would cease after all those voting PSAs, think again. Hollywood stars are fired up and will continue to use their platforms to push liberal causes. This time, it’s Obamacare, and today marks the deadline to sign up.

In her classicly bizarre approach, Dunham recorded a snarky ad from her bathtub, showing just enough of her naked chest to be within the bounds of propriety. “Hi, my name’s Lena Dunham,” she declared, “and whether you like me or hate me, I’m guessing you love health insurance. And you only have three more days to sign up!”

Dunham wasn’t alone. “Lots going on. Don't forget self-care,” producer Ava DuVernay captioned her video. “The deadline for open enrollment is January 31. Go to @HealthCareGov for info on how to #GetCovered.”

Superstore actor Colton Dunn also recorded a series of four videos encouraging sign-ups. “Some POS pulled all the ads so i made my own,” he tweeted. “Sign up for #Heathcare today! Deadline Jan 31st http://www.healthcare.gov  #PullThisAd”

On January 26, Politico reported that all government sponsored Obamacare ads had been pulled by the Trump administration. So in the eyes of the celebs above, the advocacy was a social responsibility.
