Clearly, Chris Matthews hasn’t calmed down any bit in the slightest since Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy announced his retirement on June 27. MSNBC’s Hardball host was still raging on Monday night hours ahead of President Trump nominating Kennedy’s replacement, declaring it to be “a political appointment even more than the Supreme Court.”

Hours before the announcement of Donald Trump’s Supreme Court pick, MSNBC on Monday was already plotting to stop him (or her). The Beat's Ari Melber hosted a panel full of liberals and asked former Hillary Clinton 2016 operative Brian Fallon: “On the strategy here, what do you see as the best road to actually stopping the pick?” No subtlety there.

During Sunday’s edition of Meet the Press, host Chuck Todd interviewed Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin, a Democrat from Illinois. A majority of the conversation focused on the Supreme Court vacancy and how Democrats would attempt to prevent President Trump from putting his desired candidate on the bench. For the past two years, the Democrats have done their best to make sure that Republicans do not forget that they failed to hold hearings for Merrick Garland, the judge President Obama nominated in March 2016 to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia, less than a year before the end of his Presidency.

At the top of her 10:00 a.m. ET hour MSNBC show on Monday, anchor Hallie Jackson worried that President Trump’s upcoming nomination of a Supreme Court justice would provide “kind of a lifeline for Donald Trump, given other news his administration may not want to talk so much about, like the Russia investigation.”

Liberal meltdown over Trump’s new Supreme Court pick has been cataclysmic to say the least. NBCNews.com added to the hysteria on Sunday by labeling the president’s nominee shortlist as “extreme.”

While speculating on who President Trump would nominate to Supreme Court, on Monday’s Good Morning America, ABC co-host Robin Roberts and correspondent Terry Moran engaged in a brief political strategy session to advise Democrats on the best way to obstruct any pick for the high court.

A Tuesday afternoon CNN Newsroom segment illustrated the left's panic over the Supreme Court opening with guest and Daily Beast contributing editor Erin Gloria Ryan asserting that, if President Trump selects a woman, they “should be known as the Aunt Lydia of the Supreme Court” in reference to a villain from liberal dystopian show The Handmaid’s Tale. In addition, Ryan argued they shouldn’t be supported by women because they are the anthesis of feminism.

In a screed for the latest issue of The New Yorker, CNN Senior Legal Analyst Jeffrey Toobin warned the United States was doomed by prospect of President Trump naming another conservative justice to the Supreme Court. The cable news pundit feared that a “brazen conservative majority” would impact the country “in chilling new ways.”

Filling in for Craig Melvin during MSNBC’s 1:00 p.m. ET hour on Monday, anchor Chris Jansing recounted a recent exchange she had with a Democratic activist in California, who apparently became “literally physically ill” upon hearing the news that Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy was retiring and President Trump would be nominating a replacement.

Once a hero for Democrats and the left, Anthony Kennedy now is being reviled as a defective pawn of the liberal cause. On July 2, The Daily Beast published an article under the headline, “Anthony Kennedy, You Are a Total Disgrace to America.”

Actor and director Tim Robbins recently made sure to remind audiences of how much of a non-racist, anti-Trump saint he is. On Saturday, Tim Robbins attended the Karlovy Vary Film Festival. Screening two of his own films at the event, Robbins was a guest of honor who used his time behind the mic to wax political. This time, the actor took aim at Trump and the recent Supreme Court approval of the president’s travel ban.

Late Sunday on HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, the liberal comedian despaired, along with the rest of the media, over Justice Anthony Kennedy’s retirement from the Supreme Court. Playing advocate for the Democrats, the host spread doom and gloom predictions over the legacy of Roe v. Wade and gay marriage.
