Over the past 10 days, journalists on CNN and MSNBC have dutifully repeated the Democrats’ claim that “the walls are closing in” around President Trump. Cable hosts and their guests have used this precise verbiage a total of 50 times since December 10 – and that’s not including the instances in which Democratic politicians repeated the assertion on TV.
The press isn’t arguing any more: Silicon Valley is allied with Democrats. And The New York Times is worried that alliance is crumbling.
On Wednesday's New Day show, CNN host Alisyn Camerota not surprisingly showed a double standard in pressing conservative CNN contributor Rick Santorum from the left on the issue of separating families who cross the border illegally, while going softer on Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal in a later segment. Camerota not only misinformed Santorum and CNN viewers by claiming that legal asylum seekers are separated from their children, but she also tried to shame the conservative former Senator for blaming the parents for the plight of their children by demanding: "Rick, does that make you able to sleep better at night, to blame the parents?"
On MSNBC’s All In Tuesday night, and then again on CNN’s New Day Wednesday morning, Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut repeated his claims that the current moment is comparable to 9/11. Each time, the hosts failed to ask him to clarify or add nuance to his extreme statement.
On Monday night, MSNBC prime-time shows spent the vast majority of their time discussing President Trump’s pick for the Supreme Court. Of the 27 guests which appeared over the four-hour block from 8:00 p.m. to midnight ET, not a single conservative was given time to speak about the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh.
After spending Thursday evening giving President Trump glowing praise for being the first sitting U.S. president to get North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to agree to a meeting, CNN was still flabbergasted the following morning on March 9’s New Day. Remarkably, anchor Alisyn Camerota even confronted a Democrat politician on-air and demanded to know why his party wouldn’t acknowledge the president’s accomplishments.
Less than an hour before Wednesday night’s unveiling of the Fake News Awards, MSNBC’s Hardball assembled a panel to condemn media criticism and fake news accusations as the impetus behind authoritarian crackdowns on the press, but also offer an almost erotic tribute to the media’s supposed objectivism and commitment to fighting President Trump.
On Thursday's MSNBC Live, host Craig Melvin invited Connecticut Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal to complain about Congress not passing new gun laws since the Sandy Hook school shootings five years ago. The Democratic Senator was like a broken record as he complained that Congress had been "complicit" in shootings, and took aim at the NRA.
In the aftermath of Sunday’s deadly mass shooting at a Baptist church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, Morning Joe’s panel spent much of the broadcast repeatedly calling for gun control and trying to delegitimize the concept of gun ownership for the purpose of self-defense. At one point in the show, New York Times columnist Bret Stephens insisted that there wasn’t a “single instance” that conservatives could point to of anyone “us[ing] their guns to protect their liberties.” Bizarrely, Stephens had already forgotten that it was a citizen armed with a gun who stopped yesterday’s massacre from becoming even more horrendous.
For much of Monday, MSNBC had disgraced anchorman Brian Williams hosting their Las Vegas shooting aftermath coverage. During the five P.M. hour, which was usually reserved for MTP Daily, Williams had Connecticut Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal on to smear Congressional Republicans a “complicit” the murder of 59 people and injury of 527 others. He even used the deaths of the first graders in Sandy Hook to do it.
Further illustrating the blatant collusion between the Democratic Party and the news media, MSNBC’s Hardball host Chris Matthews and Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal (Conn.) spent Wednesday night predicting that history will look back on the Trump era and conclude the liberal media were “the heroes” who stood for decency and truth.
