CBS used Earth Day 2019 to hype higher taxes as a way of fighting global warming. The entire second hour of This Morning was devoted to climate change and the environment. On the same show, current co-host Gayle King proudly played archival footage of Walter Cronkite in 1970 promoting Earth Day alarmism: “A day set aside for a nationwide outpouring of mankind seeking its own survival.”
It seems someone at CBS thought it was a good idea to send correspondent Mark Phillips all the way to Germany and do a full report about the Berlin Wall just to suggest that all walls are bad, and therefore undermine President Donald Trump's push for a border wall, as well as Israel's security barrier which has likely saved thousands from being murdered by suicide bombers.
During Monday’s newscast, CBS Evening News was irritated by President Trump’s position on climate change and how he was putting America at odds with the rest of the world. “At a U.N. climate conference in Germany today, the Trump administration talked up fossil fuels, including coal,” chided Anchor Anthony Mason. “That puts the U.S. at odds with 194 other nations, but some American entrepreneurs and politicians want to make sure the administration does not have the final word.”
After touting President Obama’s endorsement of Emmanuel Macron last week, the networks were back Monday to offer full reports gushing about his election victory. The liberal candidate beat conservative candidate Marine Le Pen by a 2-1 margin, which all three networks characterized as a defeat against “extremism” and the “far right.” NBC’s Richard Engel was so excited about the news, that he actually compared Le Pen’s defeat to the defeat of Nazi Germany.
Ivanka Trump was embracing her role as adviser to the president on Tuesday when she was representing the United States at a women’s summit in Berlin, Germany. While on stage, she stated that her father has “been a tremendous champion of supporting families.” And with that, the European audience “hissed” and “jeered.” The liberal Big Three networks were more than happy to pounce on the incident and replay it that evening.
As liberals around the country continued to rage over President Donald Trump’s not-a-travel-ban ban Tuesday evening, reporter Mark Phillips took the time on CBS Evening News to remind everyone that the people of Europe don’t care for our president either. “Not just the crowds that have poured onto the streets of Europe are angry with Donald Trump,” he reported, “The disenchantment has now reached the highest levels of European politics.”
The UK delegation was in Brussels Tuesday for the first time following their history making vote to leave the European Union. The members of European Parliament acted bitter and vindictive to Brexit supporter Nigel Farage, the same was true for CBS reporter Mark Philips on Evening News. The reporter spent his time personally attacking Farage and blaming him for the hatful atmosphere in EU capital and economic effects.
Seeking to boost President Barack Obama and backers of the Paris climate change summit, the “big three” networks of ABC, CBS, and NBC devoted on Monday night over 15 minutes of airtime across six segments touting the summit, a Discovery Channel documentary on climate change, a hashtag campaign, and climate scientists in the Arctic Circle -- to name a few examples. CBS anchor Scott Pelley: "President Obama warned that the world is fast approaching the hour when it will be too late to save the planet from climate change."
Introducing a report on Monday’s CBS This Morning about the climate change conference being held in Paris, co-host Norah O’Donnell worried that “security concerns threaten to overshadow the talks.” Correspondent Margaret Brennan followed: “The world's two biggest polluters, China and the U.S., kicked off the climate change summit....The goal in Paris is to limit global warming to 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit from pre-industrial levels, but the terror threat is diverting attention.”
Once again, CBS has proved that it is the lone “big three” network that attempts to be a real news network. Friday’s CBS Evening News w/ Scott Pelley actually reported on the rise of anti-Semitism in Germany primarily caused by Muslims immigrating into the country. Anchor Scott Pelley highlighted how “tonight, armed guards have been posted at synagogues throughout Germany for the start of Yom Kippur, the Jewish day of atonement. Mark Phillips reports anti-Semitism is once again on the rise in Europe, especially in Germany.”
Thursday's CBS Evening News was practically shocked by a fact that threatens the agenda of radical environmentalists – global temperatures have simply not risen in 15 years. Scott Pelley trumpeted how "on the eve of a major new report on climate change...a surprising discovery." Mark Phillips hyped that "another inconvenient truth has emerged on the way to the apocalypse....the global atmosphere hasn't been warming lately."
The correspondent spotlighted how "since 1998, while the amount of greenhouse gases continued to rise, the air temperature hasn't." He also pointed out that this development "makes the task for the world's majority of climate scientists...more difficult. For the skeptics, it's ammunition." On Friday's CBS This Morning, Mark Phillips all but hinted that Pope Francis had "taken sides" with Russia's Vladimir Putin and against President Obama in the international debate over military strikes in Syria. Phillips proposed that the Pope's letter to Putin "must have been music to the Russian president's ears."
The journalist also turned to a "Vatican historian" who once publicly attacked Francis' predecessor, Benedict XVI, as a "dictator", and likened him to Islamists. He also labeled the Pope's upcoming prayer and fasting vigil for peace in Syria a "religious street protest." [audio available here; video below the jump]
