LAS VENTAS, MADRID — I am supposedly on holiday in Madrid. I take a break from politics, from public policy, from culture, and take in life in the country. In Spain that means the bullfight. Las Ventas is the major league in Spanish bullfighting, and I am not disappointed in what I see. These are fine bullfighters and ferocious bulls, though I wish Spaniards would give more consideration to the safety of the bulls. This evening, I saw six bulls slain and two bulls pull up lame. At least those lame bulls did not taste the sword.
During primaries like the one currently underway for the 2020 presidential campaign, Democrats are fond of claiming that, unlike “rich Republicans,” they “stand up for the little guy.” That concept became much more difficult to promote on Thursday after a report showed how lucrative of a legal career Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) has had, even though N.Y. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez quickly rushed to her defense and even took aim at a --- wait for it --- female Washington Post reporter's salary.
Did you hear about the new study out of Berlin which found that 92 percent of left-wing activists still live with their parents? This will come as no surprise to nearly every conservative learning about it. What the study didn't look at though was what percent of left-wing activists never leave adolescence. Chances are, that answer would have been on the high end. Latest example from liberal media -- Bill Press yesterday on his radio show/podcast discussing the latest "milkshaking" incident in Great Britain, this one targeting Nigel Farage, a leader of the Brexit movement.
Liberal billionaire George Soros gives millions each year to fund a left-wing media empire that promotes far-left opinions. It’s only natural that some of those Soros-funded or Soros-linked media are pushing the eco-socialist Green New Deal and hoping to influence the upcoming presidential race. The Green New Deal resolution was introduced by Democratic Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Sen. Edward Markey (D-MA). Ocasio-Cortez described it as a “comprehensive agenda of economic, social and racial justice,” aiming to force a New Deal-like federal mobilization designed to “achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions through a fair and just transition.”
Good news for the underdwellers in our apocalyptic capitalist reality; the socialist revolution will be televised! The new streaming platform Means TV aims to launch soon, providing anti-capitalist propaganda to true believers in the trenches, looking to inspire hope as they toil in this free-market hellscape. Should we point out the irony that these worker party broadcasts will sit behind a subscription paywall?
witter is having a field day with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Again. It seems the freshman Congresswoman is baffled by this new technology called the “garbage disposal.” It’s par for the course for the woman now known as AOC. Right-leaning folks routinely mock her on social media, assuming Twitter doesn’t ban them in the process.
Fewer people are now in favor of the Green New Deal and the disappointment of The Washington Post was palpable.
It turned out that once more people knew more about the socialist fantasy to save the planet (and give away a bunch of other stuff), attitudes shifted against it. To the Post this was proof the “GOP campaign” to “sour the plan in the minds of Republican voters” was working.
There are parody accounts and satire accounts on Twitter for almost every politician, red or blue. But not for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). Twitter removed a parody account (that clearly stated multiple times on the account page that it was a parody) for “creating fake and misleading accounts.” The account owner, Michael Morrison, was also “permanently suspended.”
Freeform’s liberal teen dramedy The Bold Type once again promoted a pro-abortion storyline, but this time they also went hard after pro-life crisis pregnancy centers, claiming they, “flood your brain with anti-abortion propaganda and false medical statistics,” and that they’re “run by anti-choice groups...designed to scare women away from getting medical help.”
Anti-capitalist, and self-proclaimed “rabble-rousing leftist” climate activist Naomi Klein took liberal guilt complexes to a new level at a conference to compel a transformation in climate change media coverage.
Speaking on a panel about the Green New Deal at the Columbia Journalism Review event on April 30, Klein said what was holding people back from taking action on climate was a “sense of doom” and “self-loathing.”
As if we don’t see 2020 presidential candidate Bernie Sanders often enough, a comic book company has decided to produce a one-shot singing the praises of the Independent Vermont senator with the curious title Talk Bernie to Me! The issue will feature three covers, with one of Sanders’ smiling face, another with him as He-Man from the Masters of the Universe animated series holding up a sword in front of the White House and a third depicting his arrest during a protest many years ago.
On Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough suggests that Democrats should not "play it safe" and simply try to remove President Trump from office in 2020 by beating him at the polls. Instead, Scarborough argues that the Mueller report suggests that Trump "deserves" to be impeached, and that Congress has a "constitutional responsibility" to begin impeachment proceedings.
