A week is not a long time. It’s only 1/52nd of a year. But eco-warriors determined to be rid of fossil fuels will latch on to anything to try to prove renewables can shoulder the demand for energy.
Think Progress and EcoWatch did just that on May 8, celebrating that the UK’s “electrical grid has gone more than seven days without burning any coal.” BBC and CNN both quoted Fintan Slye of the UK National Grid Electricity System Operator. The Guardian also reported the coal-free week.
Another airport has just banned Chick-Fil-A from setting up shop on account of the fast food chain’s financial ties with Christian groups. Buffalo, New York’s regional airport just followed a San Antonio airport’s lead in being delusional enough to trust the judgment of crazy lefty outlet ThinkProgress and banned Chick-Fil-A on account of their supposed anti-LGBTQ discrimination.
The left’s war on Christian groups rages on. The San Antonio City Council recently denied Chick-Fil-A from opening airport concessions in the Texas city because of what the Council and lefty outlet Think Progress call Chick-Fil A’s “anti-LGBTQ donations.”
Former Mayor Michael Bloomberg won’t be running for president in 2020, but the billionaire media mogul has vowed to continue trying to eradicate the coal industry. He’s also promised to target oil and gas.
Left-wing Think Progress called that admission the “bombshell the media missed.” ABC, CBS and NBC barely noticed it. In the midst of Bloomberg’s announcement not to run for the highest office, he promised a “new, even more ambitious phase” of his anti-coal campaign.
“Whatever you do, don’t call it infanticide.” That’s part of the progressive media’s plan to cover for the Senate Democrats who on Tuesday shot down a GOP bill that would have protected the lives of babies born after surviving an abortion.
President Trump used his State of the Union to condemn Democratic efforts to push abortion laws toward legal infanticide. Democrats have been swift to call him a liar and protest that he’s blowing things out of proportion. But he wasn’t lying and the evidence is out there, making ThinkProgress’ February 6 protestation as silly as it is dishonest. Trump, ThinkProgress asserted, lied when he claimed third-trimester abortions “rip babies from mothers.”
Beauty pageants could be approaching their biggest cultural watershed moment yet. Not only has Angela Ponce, the trans woman crowned 2018’s Miss Spain, become the first transgender to compete for the Miss Universe crown, she is poised to win the entire competition. She claims the victory would be “a win for human rights,” and a slam to conservatives and Trump.
The media don’t care about online censorship -- unless it happens to them. The liberal site ThinkProgress cried foul after it was fact checked for a story it posted on Facebook involving Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. The original article said Kavanaugh would “kill Roe v. Wade.” Not only was ThinkProgress fact checked, but the article was fact checked by the conservative Weekly Standard.
The media are very worried about Justice Kennedy leaving for one main reason: abortion. On Wednesday, Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy announced his retirement. The media immediately expressed fury that, with a pro-life judge as replacement, Roe v. Wade might be overturned. The 1973 Supreme Court decision legalized abortion on a federal level in the United States. Overturning it would leave abortion up to the states – but media figures from The New Yorker to Salon warned about abortion vanishing.
In an attempt to catch conservatives flat-footed in hypocrisy, liberal outlets ended up putting their own foot in their mouth. Addressing the Sarah Huckabee Sanders vs.the Red Hen restaurant incident, liberal media outlets such as The New York Daily News, Vox, and ThinkProgress accused conservatives of a double standard.
In the wake of the killings in Parkland, Fla., the New York Times is pressing for gun control and targeting the National Rifle Association. Reporters Richard Fausset and Tiffany Hsu reveled in a purported split between the GOP’s supposed natural allies, big business and the influential gun-rights group, in a front-page story Wednesday, “N.R.A. Battle Pits Business Against G.O.P.”
Climate Progress founding editor Joe Romm is furious with The New York Times for hiring a person he claims is an “extreme climate science denier.”
Romm was referring to Pulitzer Prize winner Bret Stephens of the Wall Street Journal. His rant on Think Progress against the paper included Holocaust denialism and the KKK.
