The liberal media love to pretend that their news cycles are dictated entirely by President Trump’s Twitter feed. It’s their number one excuse when average Americans complain they’re not covering other and arguably more important topics. But oh how quickly their fascination with his account fades when he mentions something they rather keep hidden. For Thursday’s evening broadcasts on ABC, CBS, and NBC (as well as on Spanish-language Univision and Telemundo) it was Twitter allegedly “shadow banning” conservative accounts.
On Thursday, San Francisco began a campaign to register illegal immigrants so they could vote in school board elections. Instead of reporting on that controversial liberal policy, ABC and NBC chose to focus on frivolous topics like the Brady house. ABC also fawned over Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen playing together at Madison Square Garden, while NBC touted Baltimore banning sugary drinks from kid’s menus and parents fighting at Little League games.
On Wednesday, anti-Trump FBI lawyer Lisa Page was supposed to appear on Capitol Hill for a joint hearing with the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees who were investigating alleged political bias against the Trump campaign by the FBI. But instead of complying with the Congressional subpoena that called her there, she defied it and didn’t show up. The allegations against her were serious but the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) didn’t find anything interesting about thesubpoena snub.
Iranian civilians rose up in protest against their government on Monday, as the country’s economic situation continued to deteriorate in the wake of the United States pulling out of the nuclear agreement with a promise to reinstitute sanctions. The protests were the second major uprising this year and despite that fact, the Iran-friendly broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) failed to mention it during their evening newscasts. It may also have something to do with the protestors allegedly chanting “death to Palestine.” Just a hunch.
It didn’t take long for condolences to come pouring in from people across the political spectrum and throughout the media. Even with such short notice, both CBS and NBC ran news briefs on their evening programs reporting his passing. But ABC was the lone broadcast network to skip Krauthammer’s passing. And The Washington Post, where he wrote for decades, published an obituary that partially blamed him for the Iraq War.
I have often thought that tributes to those we love are best made when the object of our affection is still with us, rather than at their funerals. I do not know Charles Krauthammer well, though we would occasionally see each other at Fox News when I worked there and at Washington Nationals baseball games. Others have commented on his brilliance, his dry wit and his skill at deconstructing arguments made by his political opposites.
On Wednesday, media outlets began reporting of a draft Justice Department Inspector General report floating around that was highly critical of former FBI Director James Comey and former Attorney General Loretta Lynch. But come Thursday evening, both CBS and NBC failed to mention it even though they each had the opportunity to report the development during two of evening broadcasts and their morning shows.
Despite the report showing how the Obama administration lied in Congressional oversight hearings about the access it would allow Iran, the liberal broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) along with Spanish-language outlets Univision and Telemundo completely ignored the bombshell during their evening newscasts. It’s the latest in a disturbing series of pro-Iran moves by these networks.
After news broke that, on Thursday, a gunman trying to perpetrate a mass shooting in Oklahoma City was stopped by two armed citizens who used their own guns against him, FNC has given the story a substantial amount of attention while ABC and CBS have also run full stories on the event. But CNN barely touched the story, burying it between 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m Eastern in a couple of 25-second briefs Friday morning, while NBC and MSNBC have ignored it entirely.
On Wednesday, a federal judge out of the Southern District of New York ruled that President Trump’s blocking of people on Twitter somehow violated the First Amendment and declared Trump’s account was a public forum. Of course, the liberal media that has condemned the President’s use of the social media platform saw it as a victory and rejoiced. Both CBS and NBC made sure to touch on it during their evening broadcasts.
The anti-Trump Resistance appeared to have been dealt a crippling blow Wednesday evening when news broke that Special Counsel Robert Mueller couldn’t indict President Trump. The revelation came from Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani who said Mueller admitted to him, investigators would be following decades-old DOJ guidelines that say a sitting president cannot be indicted. This Washington-shaking news went largely unreported by the network evening broadcasts. In contrast, they spent over nine minutes on pointless pop culture news.
Former FBI Director and new author James Comey has spent the past 12 days on his book tour promoting A Higher Loyalty, the supposed greatness of Comey himself and the lack thereof on the part of President Trump. However, no prior interview compared to his Thursday hit on the Fox News Channel’s Special Report as host Bret Baier offered a masterfully tough tour de force akin to interviews of yesteryear by the late Tim Russert.
