HBO’s Euphoria gets off on showing probably the worst liberal entertainment has to offer, whether it’s statutory rape, way too many penises, or teenagers becoming cam girls. The July 7 episode continues that trend featuring those things and more with a deeper look at the show’s transgender teenager.
On the second episode of BBC’s Years and Years, which aired in the United States on HBO July 1, the woes of the Lyons family have become more catastrophic. A year has passed since the nuking of the Chinese island of Hong Sha Do in the final days of the Trump presidency, which has brought about sanctions and trade wars.
Out of the mouths of babes, as they say! When it’s Hollywood babes, however, what comes out of their mouths isn’t always very cute or funny. Such was the case on HBO’s hit drama Big Little Lies which is on its second season after the first received rave reviews. On Sunday’s episode, “She Knows,” the writers of thought it would be amusing to have a little boy call God a “douchebag.”
Watching HBO’s Euphoria is a lot like watching the recent Democratic primary debates. Each experience will slowly kill your faith in humanity. However, only one of these things includes an excruciating plot of a high school student granting sexual favors to grown men online and nearly thirty photos of erect penises. With those options, give me Beto O’Rourke speaking broken Spanish any day.
During Friday’s Real Time, HBO host Bill Maher and his panel weighed in on the first Democratic debates, so not surprisingly, it did not take long for the guests to start trashing President Trump, calling him an “overt enemy of liberal democracy” and claiming there’s “concentration camps” at the border. Believe it or not, Maher had the most rational analysis; repeatedly calling out his liberal guests for their double standards.
BBC One’s limited series Years and Years tells the story of the Lyons family living in the United Kingdom between 2019 and 2034. Episode 1, which premiered in the United States on HBO on June 24, quickly shows us that President Trump will be reelected in 2020, but ends with the vision of Trump having just fired nuclear missiles at China.
Well, we can’t say we weren’t warned. After the truly awful premiere of HBO’s drug-fueled, underage sex series Euphoria, star Zendaya stated as a preview for the rest of the season, “Let’s just say like, the first episode is the most mild, to be honest.” The June 23 episode “Stuntin’ Like My Daddy” proves her right with a long-awaited scene featuring more than a dozen penises.
On Real Time Friday, host Bill Maher closed his “New Rules” segment by pleading with Oprah Winfrey to run for President of the United States. While the longtime talk show host has faded from the political scene since stumping for Democrat Stacey Abrams to the delight of the liberal media, Maher apparently hoped his monologue would cause Winfrey to reconsider her decision not to seek the White House in 2020.
With scenes of rape, incestual sex, decapitations, and child executions, Game of Thrones was considered one of the most graphic shows on TV until its conclusion last month. Yet somehow, HBO’s latest teen drama Euphoria makes Game of Thrones look family-friendly in comparison. The Parents Television Council has issued an urgent warning to parents against the new show, but the media has mostly dismissed the alert, showering the graphic teen-targeted show with praise.
During Last Week Tonight Sunday, host John Oliver devoted nearly his entire show to advocating for the impeachment of President Trump while attempting to portray himself as neutral on the matter. Oliver appeared to have a newfound sense of motivation to push for impeachment following President Trump’s interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos.
Truly, we’ve hit another new low on television. In just the first hour of HBO’s latest series Euphoria, we have rampant graphic underage sex and drug use, a bizarre defense of minors sending nude photos, and the statutory rape of a trans teenager. Somehow, I ended up longing for the simple porn set-up of The Deuce - at least that show is about adults.
On the June 9 Last Week Tonight on HBO, host John Oliver uncorked one of his long faux-comedic crusades for a left-wing cause, in this case the utopian dream of an "Equal Rights Amendment." He mocked its biggest opponent, the late Phyllis Schlafly, as an undesirable wife. I'm not sure how big a sacrifice it was for [her husband] Fred to spend a few hours not hanging out with Phyllis Schlafly. If I had to guess, Fred was absolutely okay with Phyllis getting out of the house for the day. The night, even."
